As near as I can tell, it was 1990 under John Gutekunst. If that's correct, that's, what... 32 years?

If that's correct, it shows how monumental it would be to do it in 2022. There is still a lot to play for this season, folks!

1990 game was something else. Iowa had everything to play for and Minnesota didn't. The refs had to stop the game twice to warn the Iowa crowd about a possible unsportsmanlike penalty due to crowd noise even though the game was played in the Dome.

That Gopher win cost Iowa the outright Big 10 championship.

I was still in the marching band in 1990. It's funny how the bowl game proliferation has changed things. The 1990 Gophers finished 6-5 and we knew going into the final game at 5-5 that there was no bowl game in our future even if we did beat Iowa. Same thing in 1989.

Edit to add: I remember singing "I'll be Home for Christmas" with the rest of the band when we were losing to Michigan in 1989 to go to 5-5 with one game to go.
