the internet is once again underwhelmed with the prospect of the upcoming Gopher football season.

Offensive line, under PJ has been a strength, until last year. QB Brosmer had a great great season, once you consider the subpar Oline play. We lost a big time tackle, and our transfers could be ok. No one, outside of Gopher fans, think the line will be a strength, throw in a redshirt freshman QB, with 5 total passes, and the loss of a very solid go to WR, and I can see the pessimism.

My wife is from Iowa and is a fan. They have a huge following and get better bowls then they deserve on occassion, going 1-3 in their last 4. Seeing how they and us are close in big ten finishing in the 2020's, the downside of having a great following is playing much better competition and ending with a loss.

Now the gophers definitely deserve a harder matchup for the next bowl, we have to be careful in what one wishes?
I'll take watching the team lose in a high profile bowl over blowing out a MAC school in Detroit 100% of the time.

Washington being noted a “perennially good program” bothers me

since 2005 they have 5 non bowl seasons below .500
Since 2005 the gophers have 4 non bowl seasons below .500

Since 1999 the gophers have 13 seasons of 7 or more wins
Washington has 16 seasons of 7 or more

Since 1999 the gophers have 11 seasons of 8 or more wins
Washington has 10 seasons of 8 or more wins

Since 1999 Washington has 7 seasons of 9 or more wins
Since 1999 the gophers have 5 seasons of 9 or more wins

Washington is much closer to a Michigan state, Iowa, or Wisconsin than they are to Penn state and Oregon.
I think Washington is up and down. Some great years in the past 10 but also one stinker. 25 wins over a 2 year period is pretty impressive though...

Personally I would put them a level above MN, but they are closer to MN than OSU.

Here’s another one predicting bottom 4 B1G

Again, I can’t say this enough: anyone with a keyboard and an account can post stuff like this. I’m just surprised how often I see stuff like this regardless of how valid the prognostication is.

Since you have astutely identified "anyone with a keyboard with an account can post stuff like this", why do you care one iota much less find it even remotely interesting?
