I spend my share of time on Threads, Twitter, Tik Tok etc. etc. and of course any 13 year old can publish a flashy "Ranking the B1G helmets" post, or rank the teams for the upcoming season. I am annually amazed at how it is rinse, repeat with putting the Gophers somewhere beyond the #10 predicted finish in the B1G while declaring it will be Nebraska's break out year as they will have a real shot at a top 5 finish. I guess it will finally happen some year, but it is predicted EVERY year. There are some savvy sources that predict 9 or more wins for the Gophers this season, but for the most part, you'd think the Gophers annually are fighting to keep out of the cellar and best case situation is to make a bowl. How many more 8-to-11 win seasons will it take to change the mind of your average 7th grader with a Tik Tok account?

I do think the low expectations and national buzz have had a direct impact on the current Gopher bowl winning streak. There are some impressive wins in there but in general, the Gophers have had a lot of bowl games where they were undervalued and matched up in worst-case bowls with shaky opponents.
 

If the Gophers get below average QB play those that are underwhelmed by the Gophers prospects will be spot on.

If the Gophers get above average QB those that are currently underwhelmed by the Gophers prospects will be surprised at the results.

I am a Gopher season ticket holder but if the 1st String QB was sitting at the same table, I would have no idea who he was.

I agree with the bowl matchup part. The 2016 and 2019 bowl games were fair matchups. Missouri overmatched the Gophers in 2014. The rest since 2014 were Gophers overmatched the opponents by a ton. They should have been picked for better bowls a few times.
 

On paper Nebraska has a lot of talent. But I'd take PJ to lead a team over their coach for sure. With the questions at QB the predictions of 6-7 wins total is pretty legit.

I think they win 7 games myself.

I don't think the Gophers were overmatched. I think that the coaches got out coached starting at the end of the second quarter. I also think the Gophers went flat when they went up and appeared to be in control early in the game.

Just a biased Gopher fans opinion.

I dont think they were totally overmatched in the game itself, but that year Missouri was a better team for sure.

I have seen projections saying best case 10-2
Projections saying worst case 4-8 or 5-7

I have seen most projections of 7 wins +\- 1

Seems about right and medium not low
 



The QB is a redshirt freshman who has never started a college game. It's going to be an up and down season. That's ok. Let's see growth from the QB as the season progresses. He's going to look awful, and we'll want to curse him out. He'll also have some nice moments.

Getting to another bowl would be a solid season with the QB.

I could start forwarding every ‘25 B1G prediction that has the Gophers in the bottom 5 to you if you’d like. I didn’t make that up. Of course (as I said) there are some out there that predict an upper division finish.

I have not seen many predicting 14th or worse.

Most I have seen have been 9-12 range
Which is essentially a prediction of 4-5 or 5-4

Which is essentially a prediction of 6-6 to 8-4
