The Coaching Landscape will be fun to watch in the off-season

Glen Mason!

Only half in jest.... Ohio State was #1 on his list and Penn State was #2

I hate to say that thought crossed my mind - just to bring someone in to keep them competitive while the dust settles, then allow PSU to hire the right guy in a few years. I just don't see the next coach being a big name.

Although, I think there is a more obvious choice - Matt Millen! Just look what he did for the Lions... :)

They probably rented Dick Cheney's undisclosed location facility for McQueary.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Millen brought in to do something or another.

A couple of other questions will be, does Paul Chryst finally get a shot at being a head coach?, and were does Mike Stoops land? A Chryst/Stoops package would make a lot of sense. I hope Chryst does get a shot some where other than the Big 10 and he takes his O line coach with him.

I kind of hope Chryst ends up at Arizona. My brother-in-law is a U of A grad and I have a soft spot for the Wildcats.

I'm not much on the Badgers and while I don't think Chryst is a genius, he's a very good coach. He runs a lot of really neat stuff out of a straight power/pro formation. Reminds me a bit of the old Nebraska offense during the Late Devaney/Early Osborne years before Osborne went more heavily into the triple option.

That's because he'd be a great AD during the first half and choke during the second ( ba dum chik)!

Lets see, a SEC job paying 2.5 to 3 million versus Joe Pa at 1.8. Penn State is notorious about winning on the cheap. The Penn State way. Candidates for Ole Miss, Skip Holtz, Mike Leach, Gus Malzahn are in the mix. Penn State what ya got. Nothing but legal problems. Ole Miss will land a coach. The Search committe includes the CEO of Fedex. Money is no object. They know they need a coach who has won with less talent than the big time programs. Leach has that in spades. He won against Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas, Oklahoma State. Whether Ole Miss will win the SEC before PSU wins the Big 10 is another question. One final note, Oxford has been rated by USA Today as the 6th best college towns in America. If you have never been to Oxford, you have missed Rowan Oak and Faulkner.

Was there this past summer. One of the most beautiful campuses I've ever seen. Amazing how you are just walking around and you, for lack of a better term, stumble onto the football field. Big stadium that is just kind of woven into the campus.

Penn State will be a great job again, but it might take a bridge coach for the dust to settle.

If I was Gus Malzahn I would reach out to Mike Stoops to be my DC and make a run at the Ole Miss job as a package.

Penn state paid Paterno less than 2 million cause Joe PA didnt ask for more. They are one of about 15 programs that could afford and IMO would be willing to pay the right candidate 4+ million.

Very good point. I would be willing to bet that Paterno was very content to make his 1.8 and not complain about it. If Penn State can find the right guy to run the program I don't think money will be an issue. They can and will pay whatever they need to to get past this as quickly as possible.

My thoughts exactly. They might even end up overpaying 4+ million for a merely above average coach if this scandal hurts them to the point where no one major wanted the job.
