most of his background is in broadcasting.
Harvard Law grad. worked for ABC Sports, then CBS Sports Network. Moved to MLB where he ran the MLB Network and was COO for MLB under the Commissioner.

Most recently worked for Activision Blizzard - a video-game company.

not a lot of direct experience in the college sports world. But working with MLB club owners should be good training for dealing with B1G Presidents and AD's.

saw a report that Petitti played a significant role in helping to create the Bowl Championship Series when he was at ABC. the same story said that he is on very good terms with people at ESPN, NBC and CBS. sounds like he is a fairly accomplished schmoozer.
