With US Bank officially getting the naming rights of the new Vikings stadium, is anyone else disappointed we can't use "The Bank" when referring to TCF Bank stadium?

Maybe it was not used very often or very popular, but now we have two football stadiums located no more then 2 miles apart from each other both named after a Bank.

In keeping with U of M tradition I suggest we start to refer to them as the West Bank and the East Bank.

Will the new Bank Stadium be able to pull off a Purple-Out?

How ironic that both stadiums will be named for Banks.

The problem make care of itself.

There are rumors that TCF Bank may be taken over by another bank. This may not solve the problem automatically but would give the new company, when renaming, a chance to solve the problem. I would guess that the U's 25 year contract with TCF has a clause that allows such a thing.

On the other hand, why is it such a problem that both stadiums are named after banks? It is up to the public to choose "nick names" and I'm sure they would,

I'm not to sure about that. Why rebrand when you know you won't be around that long?

Gophers: 25 years, $35 million (10.48% of total stadium cost)
Vikings: 25 years, $220 million (21.21%)

Baltimore had the first "the Bank" stadium. I say we go back to the "Brick House"

And "Brick House" should be played over and over again.... Not the whole song, just the phrase....

US Bank Stadium can be "The Vault" and TCF Bank Stadium can continue to be "The Bank"

I think there are 3 "Fifth Third Bank" stadiums out east. That's confusing on so many levels. I've also found that much of the general (non-sports) folk don't know that the Twins and Wolves don't play in different venues...

Not to mention, TCF tied into the UCard AND got a branch on campus AND got all the ATM's on campus. I still can't believe the U couldn't do better than that. It seems to me that the items listed have to be worth more than $35 million / 25 years alone, without naming rights.

This is the same public that couldn't figure out the difference between Humphrey and Lindberg terminals, hence we now have terminal 1 and terminal 2

My issue with Brickhouse is its unoriginality. There are probably 100 stadiums around the country called that.

That'd actually be pretty cool, though most non-U folks wouldn't know what you're talking about.

Then again, we could just start calling the Gopher Stadium by the most obvious name - "The Gopher Hole!"

The first Bank will be known as "The Original Bank." The second Bank will be known as 'The New Original Bank." Problem solved.

I can't find any. Certainly not any in the NFL or NCAA.

I stand corrected, I made an assumption, and you know that means. Brickhouse it is!

Why don't we all agree to still call the new Vikings stadium the Humpty Dump?

It's still criminal how cheap TCF got the naming rights to the New Brickhouse. And to think Maturi thinks he got a good deal...

The Brick House! Awesome.

Name for the Gopher Defense? Brick Wall.

we can wrap a whole lot of Minnesota traditions into this.

For the Gophers, we call it the bank until the Vikings stadium opens. Then it's the original bank.

For the Vikings, when they open, we can just call it I can't believe they sold the naming rights for only _____ Stadium.

If TCF bank gets bought and the new bank pulls out of the naming rights, whoever buys them, we can just call it -- Old Bank Stadium. It will confuse visitors, but is consistent with the naming rights.

I also like East Bank and West Bank stadiums as an Idea.
