I was talking with "anonymous" earlier today about how important the UW game is tomorrow night and I asked him when the last time we had a home game of this magnitude, given everything that is on the line. We both agreed that tomorrow night is as big of a home game since the Illinois home game in 2002. We obviously had some important home games in 2005, but we secured an NCAA bid on the road that season and not against our rival.

Let's hope that the crowd is as electric as it should be to reflect the importance of the game and everything that is on the line. And let's hope the boys are focused and aggressive as it is going to be a great battle!!

Go Gophers!!

who is UW? i didn't know we were playing the university of washington tomorrow?!

There's a subtle difference.

UW are those weasels from the east.

UDub is the University of Washington, very much the U of M's sister institution in the PX.

Since the Illinois game where we couldnt get it past half court in the second half...for sure.

I think it will be an epic, typical back n forth game, with each team hitting some big shots. Hopefully, we can hit one or two more in the end.

My optimistic prediction is our, much-maligned point guard (number 0) is going to be left open and will hit a big 3 down the stretch.

No official line yet, it appears...

119 is the o/u

No official Vegas line just yet, although some non-Vegas betting line sources have had the Gophers favored (-1.5), as well as the Badgers favored (also -1.5).

The LV casinos haven't posted their lines for 3/4 yet though...

I cannot dig up a specific game in which surpasses this in importance, but for me the importance, excitement, and anxiety are at incredible levels for a different reason.

This is another one of "those games" that Gopher Football and Basketball has faced over the past decade. Both teams, but especially football truthfully, have been on the cusp of great seasons/games only to fall agonizingly short. In the process I feel like "those games" have set the program back a step. My parallel in basketball is the Indiana game last year. It was a big game, no doubt, a game in which the team and Tubby were ready to declare their presence and validate a reasonably strong non-conference showing and the hopes of Gopher Nation. The game was there for the taking, and yet as we've become so calloused to, slipped away.

How many football games have we had like that in the 2000s?

I've got hoards of friends that went to Madison and of course they think sports were invented in the past decade and therefore Madison is Gods gift to all sports. Today is our chance to bury the badgers and their arrogant short-term memories with a clean sweep, its a day to validate a great season, it's a day to bring back hope to Gopher Nation that our teams are ready to win the big games, it's a springboard for this young team into next year, it's a day to shake The Barn like we've all been waiting for, it's a day that, to me is more than just another game. It's a day to validate the inflection point Gopher Sports created with Tubby, Tim's Recruiting, TCF Stadium and a great future!

Take a deep breath, and play like you've never played before Gophers!

Yes, this is as big of a game as the Illinois game that Burleson threw away in the last 5 seconds. Let's hope this one doesn't end in the complete heartbreak that that one did though.
Barn should be the loudest its been since that game also. Whoever is sitting behind whining Baby Bo Ryan, needs to raz him all game.

The good news is that we now get home referees which is the exact opposite of what happened in that Illinois game when they were fighting for a higher seeding in the NCAA.

From what I understand, UW has been playing pretty good as of late. I got a hunch that as this game goes, so goes the Gophers NCAA bid! Either the snap out of it or it is NIT time again!

Last year vs. No. 9 Indiana....Minnesota was 12-3 and 2-1 in the Big Ten. Lost that one and four of the next five.
