Minnesota: John Michael Schmitz, OL

P.J. Fleck’s talent pool gets deeper by the year. Minnesota put four more players in the draft this spring after seeing seven go from 2020-21, and the Gophers should continue that trend next spring.

Schmitz is a 6-4, 320-pound veteran center who will enter 2022 with 23 career starts over the ball. He plays with good bend and a strong anchor inside, rarely giving up leverage while serving as the tone-setter for Minnesota’s rushing attack. Schmitz has the build to be a guard in the NFL if he needs to be, but he can also clearly handle everything required of a center at the next level. Good feet, good IQ and a four-time Academic All-Big Ten selection.

Also watch out for RB Mo Ibrahim, WR Chris Autman-Bell and edge defender Braelen Oliver.

Go Gophers!!
