5- SEC Schools- Georgia, Texas, LSU, Alabama, Ole Miss
3- B1G - tOSU, Oregon, Penn State
1- ACC - Florida State
1- Big 12- Utah
Notre Dame
Boise State

1st Round . LSU at Notre Dame
Boise at Oregon
Alabama at Penn State
Ole Miss at Texas

Is it 12 teams this year?

If tOSU and Oregon go on the run they are predicted to, they will secure spots in the playoff.
For a team like MN to get there, it seems we would need to either run the table or maybe lose 1 game. There is very little margin for error if the CFP is the goal.

Reasonable but there could be a surprise or two.

Quick look at the SEC

Georgia plays: Texas and Ole Miss
Texas plays: Georgia
LSU plays: Ole Miss and Alabama
Ole Miss plays: Georgia and LSU
Alabama plays: LSU and Georgia

B1G
tOSU Plays both Oregon and Penn State.

Prediction seems to believe that these team won't lose outside of this group.

A 1 loss power 4 team gets in for sure regardless of who it is. A 2 loss P4 team where one of the losses is in the conference championship probably gets in easily as well. If you lose two games and don't win the conference championship game, it's up in the air. Some will get in and some probably won't most years. This is at least historically how it would look.

Notre Dame also plays FSU. I can't do all the permutations, but means you have multiple 2 loss not winning conference championship teams getting in
Boise State also plays Oregon so if they're blown out there, it's over.
I'd be pretty surprised purely from a numbers standpoint if it's just one from the ACC and B12. Would imagine there will be one other team amongst them aside from their conference champ that finishes with a decent record. Kansas plays one ranked team (K State), Arizona 2 (K State, Utah), OK State 2 (K State, Utah), Miami 1 (FSU), NC State 2 (Tenn, Clemson). Just envision someone is going to manage to get through with one loss somewhere amongst the other random rubble. It's just hard to get that many teams in position when you overlap and play each other that many times.

Using the prior rankings, the current SEC would've gotten 5 teams in one other time, and that was before TX and OK started playing within the SEC.
