The All-Tubby Team

For my backcourt, I'm going with Nolen and Dre Hollins, a little undersized, but Nolen's ballhawking defense, combined with Dre's explosive offensive ability just seem like a good match. I would then stick Hoff out as my wing forward, he would open up so much for my other two forwards in Rodney and Mbakwe. Kills me to keep VIP Johnson off the lineup, but I feel ilke the offense would be too limited if I switched out Hoff or Rodney for him.

I could go with that.

PG-Nolen
SG-McKenzie
SF-Damien Johnson
PF-Rodney
C-Mbakwe

I think Dre HOllins overtakes McKenzie at some point though. I loved McKenzie at Patrick Henry and loved his game at the U. As I remember he did a lot on his own, something Gophers scorers often lack (Hoffarber comes to mind)

G Al Nolen
G Dre Hollins
F Damien Johnson
F Rodney Williams
C Trevor Mbakwe

This is what mine would look like. Any lineup without Damian is a joke. Dude should have been Big Ten Defensive player at least once if not twice. Blocks and steals machine that could guard just about any position.

Bench players... Hoff, Carter, Austin, Dan Coleman, Westbrook, McKenzie and Mo.

He wasn't in the Tubby Era

By this "logic," I would write in Randy Breuer, Kevin McHale and Bobby Jackson.

Did Lawrence McKenzie play for Tubby? If yes, why in the world he only got 1 vote is beyond me. How soon they forget. Ditto Dan Coleman and Spencer Tollackson who got zero votes for some (i.e. no) reason.

C- Tollackson
F- Mbakwe

Agreed. Spencer Tollackson>Trevor Mbakwe. Mackenzie was better when he graduated than Dre is now, but I suspect Dre will preclude LM by the end of the year. Damien Johnson was a stat-stuffer too--couldn't shoot the three as well as Austin but he was taller and a better rebounder.
My five:
pg: Al Nolen (remember how freshman Al Nolen sucked though?)
sg: Hoffarber
SF: DJ
PF: Rodney
C: Tollackson

Off the bench: Mackenzie, Westbrook, Austin, Trevor.

Did you really just say Tollackson is better than Mbakwe????

I can see this lineup since you'd be big but I'd rather have Rodney than Tollackson. Tollackson missed more layups as a Gopher than some guys miss their entire lives.

Honestly, that senior crew that year, I did sleep on them. It was only one year, but they should count in this. McKenzie should definitely be in the mix.

Spencer and Trevor don't really play the same position so it's hard to compare. Tollackson had great footwork in the post, but yeah, maybe I'm thinking too highly of him because he came after Jeff Hagen. (immobile layup misser with plantar fasciatis)

I'd take Hagen over Tollackson every day of the week and twice on Sundays. Tollackson was one of the most embarrassing players in my short time (since 2004) as a Gopher fan. If you think Tollackson is better than Mbakwe you should quit watching basketball because you have no idea what you are watching.

Andre Hollins
Devoe Joseph (sorry Devoe haters--feel free to replace him with Austin Hollins)
Rodney Williams
Damian Johnson
Trevor Mbakwe

Iverson... i know i will take crap for this but watch him be first team mtn west and get an nba sniff. Tubby had him at the 4 alot and on the back wing in a 2-3 defense???

tollackson is a good guy but he drove me nuts, but i would vote him on the first team if i no longer have to listen to his game commentary;)

Can we only count how they played when they were on the team?

A'cuz if we can count how they played in college after they left, I might sneak Colton into my center spot. Averaging 16 and 11 so far this season...

Tollackson was a solid player but certainly not great. He averaged just 3.7 rebounds a game as a senior and had just 62 blocks in his 119 games as a Gopher. In comparison, Mbakwe had 45 in one season.
