Now I'd like to give thanks to all those who overachieved by playing their butts off every minute:

Tarver
Robinson
Lawson
Dusty
Stamper

Help me out its hard to think in the morning?

In addition to the names above, I'll add a few more: Nate Tubbs, Kevin Nathaniel, Jim Brewer, John Shasky, Bobby Jackson (his "will to win" was incredible), Lou Hudson (played with a broken hand), JB Bickerstaff (an underrated Gopher, IMO who showed plenty of heart), etc. This doesn't have to just be a role player list...many of our legends (Brewer, Hudson, Bobby, etc.) showed an incredible amount of heart in their tenure.

Go Gophers!!

A special shout out to the "Iron Five" of Ray Gaffney, Tim Hanson, John Shasky, Kelvin Smith, and Marc Wilson who kept the season together for the 1985-86 Golden Gophers after the Mitch Lee and company scandal broke in Madison. I was pretty young, didn't really comprehend it all at the time, but I think this overlooked bunch were great representatives of the Golden Gophers and showed incredible heart in their victory at home against Ohio State merely a week after the incident, after a game had already been forfeited and Coach Dutcher having been forced out the door. (thanks to Bleed's interview with John Shasky in the archives of Gopher Hole for filling in the details)

Off the top of my head, I'd add Westbrook to that list. He leaves it on the floor every night, and there were many games last year, that I felt like he was trying, or did, singlehandedly win games. He has the balls the size of grapefruits, and isn't afraid to take over a game if needed. I know they all want to win, but I feel like he wants to win just a little bit more.

GL,
We rely on you for the in-depth info on the team, but I don't know that anyone was expecting you to have the anatomical details on any of the players-well, maybe, Stamper :D

Lol! I would like to know that too...did I say that outloud??? Totally kidding - I've always had a crush on Stamp for his brain :)

Bobby Jackson has to be on 'that team' ... Willie Burton as well. Vince Grier makes since as well. Lou Hudson (played with a broken arm and cast) was about the best *heart* I've seen....

I agree with all of this except the bold. He also had plenty of games where he barely even bothered to show up and was invisible in some pretty big games.

I'm expecting more of the "will to win" games this year and hoping for zero of those invisible games.

Willie Burton for sure. Especially when he played like a force in the NCAA tourney with the face mask on. He was awesome.
