The 20-0 run...

would have been nice to see Trevor take a timeout and politely ask Tubby and the other coaches to stay out of the huddle for a minute while he had a word with the boys.

Would have been nice if Tubby and his crack staff would have gone back into the locker room and taken a nap while Trevor handled the substitution patterns.

Total Fail.

What was wrong with the substitution patterns yesterday?

I just feel people are just comparing EE to Ralph. In terms of energy and effort, it's a 1st round KO and given the choice of playing either, I'll take EE because Ralph is Ralph. However, I'm comparing EE to Colton. Colton as a true freshman >>>>>>>>>>> EE as a Redshirt freshman...and I'm not a Colton fan either. EE isn't a B1G player IMO and another recruiting mistake by Tubby. I think he's a liability on the court. Just because EE is better for this team than Ralph doesn't mean EE is right for this team.
Did you see the fast break layup that EE had? Most guys his size don't run the floor that well. Ya, he's raw, but he brings more to our offense than you think. Hell, if the guards would hit him when he rolls he would probably get 10+ points a game.

I agree, I think EE plays well for a young man still growing into his body. I think he will be a solid center about half way through next year and then improve to a better than most type center his last two years. He does have to stop whining to the refs for every foul. It may only make him a bigger target.

I am done with the 3, 4, or 5 man swaps. :(
In the first half Tubby sent two guys to go in, and they sat for 2 minutes waiting. By the time they got in Tubby had sent the next two.

That still puts 4 fresh ( or cold ) guys in at once.

EE and Coleman wouldn't have been cold after being in for 2 minutes.

I think Joe is going to be very good but as he had not scored since January 28, I would suggest when he hit the floor and even two minutes later, he was and is cold. :)

Fair enough. But then he may as well not play.

COMPETE!!!! Whether it's individually or as a team please compete. You may not have all the physical attributes in the world ie: EE, but compete. The team becomes competetive when they are put in the proper position within the offense and defensive schemes and gameplan and they have it within themselves to compete without letting their heads or emotions get in the way. Very frustrating when they don't, to me as a fan all we can ask for is to compete!

Not sure how anyone could take issue with how EE played last night. He's a raw, redshirt freshman & it's not like he was playing against chopped liver. He played like he always does, with energy and great effort (needs to stop worrying about the officials, though). He competes. I like that about him. I don't think it's an accident we usually play better & with more energy when he's on the floor.

+1

Eliason hopefully develops but Iverson and Sampson never improved from the time they got here so it's not a given.

Poor statement. Yes, they both did improve. Look at statistics, and look at non-statistical play if you'd like. I can't believe the revisionist history that so many message board posters engage in. Seriously, try to back that up with anything else besides "derr.... RS3 is soft." Just because Ralph is having a really poor senior year doesn't mean that he didn't otherwise improve from year to year (he did). He is a senior this year, and he has been given plenty of opportunity to shine. That is to Tubby's credit, and that is how college teams should be run. But sometimes things just don't work out. Oh well, that's life. I hate message boards because of the stupid opinions that they breed, so I think I'm going to stop posting now.

What did they improve on? The only thing that's changed with Sampson since day one is the minutes per game and shot attempts per game. His Reb/40, Asst/40, and Blocks/40 are all down and his TO/40 and Fouls/40 are all up. The rise in FT% is offset by career lows in attempts.

Iverson's numbers are virtually the same in every category. Rebounding goes up marginally, FG% goes down.

Sure they may have improved some facets of their games but not at the expense of their overall game, which has remained roughly the same.

EE is slow, uncoordinated, weak and not athletic. His upside is severely limited. This is his second year of college and he can barely dunk the ball at 7 feet tall. I would not choose him on my over 40 recreational league team. 20-0 run when he was on the floor.

Cute.

A. The over-40 rec league you play in must be tops in the country. Or you think it is.

B. Once again, he's a freshman. Terms like "slow" and "uncoordinated" could be used to describe 90% of freshmen in college basketball. It's a massive adjustment.

C. Weak and not athletic? He doesn't go up as strong as he could (and will), but he plays much stronger in the post than any other options we have right now. Again, as a freshman. And did you happen to see him run the floor and make a layup on the break last night? Hmm.

C. I would've dunked that and I'm over 40 and 6'2". Second year of college equals sophomore

second year of college equals sophomore....and also means redshirt freshman for Eliason.

Second year of college equals sophomore

No. Second year of eligibility equals sophomore. You can call it redshirt freshman, greenshirt freshman, blueshirt freshman. Whatever you want. As long as the term has "freshman" in there, it means he is exercising his first year of eligibility against B1G talent.

It also means he has three more years of that eligibility. So don't write him off yet.

People that hate on EE to me, show a lack of knowledge of basketball. And those that say a 7 footer that runs the floor well are unathletic show they are just plain dumb.

But other than that...waddaya think...not too bad?

Some people don't like players who don't look pretty on the court. If they arent a flashy dunker or don't go behind the back they are nothing. Plenty of games are won or lost on role players diving for loose balls, setting bad ass picks, rebounding with gusto, etc.

Get a clue. All big ten teams, except maybe ohio st who is loaded, would find room for EE on at least their bench.

Eliason is very athletic, watch him play defense, he switches, helps out, adjusts and gets back to his man after a switch. What he doesn't have are any established offensive moves in the post. He just doesn't have any moves he can go back to time and time again and score with consistantly. He really needs that.

The Illinois center is very athletic. Eliason is very energetic, very teachable, hard working and probably still growing into his body athletically. I think he's going to be a very good player for the Gophers.
