Tharpe to KU

Don't panic! Markedman looks to be a troll. His link doesn't work and I can't verify his story anywhere yet.

I just used his corrected link and his info looks to be verified.

My appologies markedman!

So what's on tap for the Gophs now?
Panic

Rest assured, shortly the sky will be falling on GopherHole. Let's cancel this season and the next one because the Gophers didn't get Tharpe.

Well that sucks. So much for waiting until Spring.

It's too bad but this is far better than learning in the Spring. Now they can go all out for Hollins or opther viable PG recrutis.

That's a very good point about the spring signing. Outside of Hollins, we are fairly late to the game though. Hollins is a must get now.

Surely the sky isnt falling.

Similarly, many "top flight" recruits arent coming to MN either.

I'm not surprised he committed to Kansas, but I am surprised that he at least didn't wait until he had a visit to do so...

best of luck at KU, would have liked to seen him as a Gopher.

That was an easy call to make. He never really wanted to come here, he was just taking his visits and waiting for the bigger, better deal to come.

We all should be glad he didn't string us along until spring. I was starting to feel he was going to be a long shot anyway.

I wonder what this does for KU's chances with Marcus Paige? Do they burn another PG schollie on him next year if he wants to go to KU or is he off their board? If he's off their board, then we wait to see what UNC does with him. If they go in a different direction, then we're right there or Paige.

What ever happened to Estan Tyler?

I'm guessing the staff has cooled on him a bit. He's a good player, but not a can't miss guy IMO. If we miss out on Hollins maybe he'll become more of a target. Maybe JohnnyGopher can give us more credible insight though.

LETS GO ANDRE! it was so obivous that when tharpe didnt commit he was waiting to be star struck. funny thing is he prolly wont get much PT when shelby comes back

Too bad. It's nice to know this now and not in March though.

It's tough we missed out on him, he would have been a nice get. But there are other fish in the sea. Let's get another Hollins!

My first thought on reading this was about Marcus Paige as well. I had always assumed Kansas would be a leading candidate for him. I think Kansas already has a shooting guard in that class so maybe now they're done with guards?

Does Paige have a list of finalists? And if so who is still on it?

Maybe this is a hopeless exercise in looking for a silver lining, but Paige sounds like an outstanding player.

Still don't know who that is.

Josh Selby: he's ranked anywhere from #1 to #8 for incoming freshman recruits in the country, and the top freshman PG. He's enrolled at KU, but the NCAA is holding up his eligibility while investigating some irregularities in his application. The eligibility issue, and Josiah Turner choosing Arizona over KU, is why KU suddenly became interested in Tharpe.

Not surprised Naadir Tharpe picked KU. Heard Gophs were in Georgia looking at Juco PG talent, but didn't see much. Not many options left.

Could be looking at Jucos.

I'll bet Tharpe signs with KU. Hope he comes here, but Tubby has not been terribly impressive recruiting out of state talent in his 4 years here.

Wish I had been wrong last week. Hopefully Hollins signs here in the next couple of weeks.
