Last night was fun. I basically swore Tyus off after he committed to Duke (not because I hate him, just because I didn't really care) and didn't watch much Duke basketball all season, but it was really cool to see him take over and win that game. And the fact that he beat Wisconsin made it even better.

He did have that one picture of him and Okafor where he has Gopher shorts on. I mean, I'd guess he is a fan in the sense it's his home state. And he did seem to like Richard.
Spot on post. Leave the kids alone. Good job Wisconsin and Michigan State who represented the Big Ten well. Getting upset about Bo Ryan and Wisconsin doesn't get Minnesota to the final four or even into the tourney. Pitino knows this.

He really hasn't accomplished anything worth recognition at a Gopher event. At least in my opinion. He's from Minnesota, he's not a Gopher.

Maybe at Apple Valley High School, but not at the University. Honoring him at the U of M would be like those sad sacks who buy the cast metal models of the cars that they can't afford to drive. And besides, think of us alums who make the occasional donation to The Scholarship Fund...etc...who have not yet been recognized at an official event, and how badly we might feel.

I hope this is either sarcasm or trolling from an opposing fan...I can't tell. Because if this is a serious suggestion from a Gopher fan, I'm embarrassed on your behalf.
This is the worst idea I've heard in a looooong time. What type of school honors a kid that chose NOT to go there? The only case I can think of where there's even a relationship is how Fitz holds a camp/workout at the U every summer and that's a relationship that the U benefits from greatly as it brings pub to their facilities and their players get to work out with pros. Even then they don't 'honor' Fitz as some type of honorary Gopher

I wouldn't be surprised if the Lynx honor him. There was a great SI writeup on his time with the Lynx practice team
Didn't Northwestern announce Frank Kaminsky and Jahlil Okafor were going to be honored during their homecoming game next fall?

I've never had any negative thoughts toward him for going to a tradition-rich basketball school like Duke, so this isn't an anti-Tyus rant.....but isn't this what a losing program does? We are going to try to claim a piece of a championship because somebody happened to grow up in our area? Apple Valley High School, sure. But the University of Minnesota? I hope not.
