Beyond starting Gray, which you have made abundantly clear, please explain your solution.

This should be good. I'm unsure whether it can be done in twelve words or less....

If you're looking for a solution doesn't that imply there is a problem? I was under the impression that everything is perfect in Gopher Nation!! :D

LOL

Stop It

Even the Announcers & casual viewers who watch our National TV Games get it yet the people on this board don't.......

Maybe some of you should try seeing how other people view the Gophers...it's real eye-opening.......

If you haven't been paying attention to what the announcers say over & over & over again when criticizing our team that seems to go over some board members heads then I don't know what to say but I did however save some quotes from difference internet forums, etc, during some of our national games. Though these are more straight to the point and not as detailed as when the announcers have pointed things out, they are very humorous.......

For example...and I quote.......Twitter....SOHH....Facebook......Etc......

"This Decker kid makes this wack QB look good, without him he's lost."

"OSU should win this pretty easy because Minnesota's Offense has no Identity. Why do people continue to hire NFL level coaches?"

"Is it me or has Weber not thrown the ball away once? How many more times can he spin away in get sacked for 10 yards? He must be a Freshman."

"I've never seen an Offense so dependent upon 1 player."

"Why does Weber stare down his receivers? Isn't he a Junior?"

"I knew Cal was gonna get stomped by Oregon & USC when I turned the TV to ESPN and seen they were tied with Minnesota 21-21 in the 4th QTR." (THIS ONE HURT MY FEELINGS)

"How do you let Greg Paulus outshine your 3rd Year QB? The Gopher QB must be terrible."

"Wow Cal is tied with Minnesota 21-21? They're gonna get killed by Oregon next week."

I'm serious. I want to know. Nothing's perfect, and obviously something is broken. I want to know the solution.

2 of those are basically the same. And I never heard people disconnected from the program say that. Why don't you ask Texas fans what they think about the direction of our program under Brew?

A direct question deserves a direct answer; what is your solution?

So you're pretty much telling me you don't see a problem.......

Well I can't tell you how to fix something if you don't think it's broke.......

Dude! Answer the fricking question! It's not that hard!

Unless you just like to bitch to hear your own head rattle. Which, I believe, is the OP's entire point anyway.

Just curious - what problem are we asking thailleagle to solve? To be fair the original post was awfully vague.

Gray led a scoring drive with the 1st string offense against at least the 2nd string defense......I never read too much into garbage time. Not a real indication of performance. Should Gray get more time in the offense? Yes. Will it look like the spread that we abanded? Yes. However even his teammates in quotes in the papers have said he has work to do to be a consitant QB. He is only a freshman.

Thank you...people love to just be so random like any poster on this board is the one that blew the coverage on OSU's first TD, lol........

Like some posters on GH, this guy (?) is not here to answer simple direct questions, "fix" anything, offer reasonable solutions to any of the Gs "problems" or add intelligence to the discussion, he's here to blame/criticize the Gs and agitate as many GHers as possible...and he's quite good at it based on all those voices in his head spilling out here every day.

You're seriously deluded about the meaning of the word "fan".

And good job at continuing to not answer the question.

Tell me what the problem is & I'll give you a solution.......

I praise Brew for the first 6 games of the season while still showing concern but optimism...speak nothing after the PSU game because there was nothing to talk about & criticize our play against OSU & the wolves remember no praising at all...

The Selective Perception by some of you so called "fans" is disturbing...

I'll play along because I actually wonder if he will have anything to say, or just continue to be antagonistic for his own entertainment. My guess is he will be cute and find some way to "answer" my question without providing any coaching or football information, since he displays his lack of football knowledge on an hourly basis.

Dear Thail,
If you were suddenly named tonight the head coach of the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers football team for the rest of the 2009-2010 season, what are some things you would do coaching-wise and personnel-wise to help the Gophers play better in the hopes that they can win games this season down the stretch? Some of the Gophers problems include 1) Few offensive plays of 20+ yards, 2) Low offensive rush yards per carry average, 3) Defense allowing a high 3rd down conversion percentage, and 4) a high number of passing yards allowed on defense. Please list all the steps and actions you would take so we can get a full scope of what you would do as head coach.

It's simple really. You have to get other players involved then just putting the entire Offense on "Weber to Decker." A big part of Football is PERCEPTION & ours is at a very low state at this point. Our Offense is Decker & most teams know that playing us...why? Because the coaches haven't created a 2nd Threat. Stoudamire looked great on that last possession against OSU & Green can catch the ball if you put it where he can get it. They haven't established a 2nd Threat, something else that works that makes Defenses adjust.

One thing I used to like about Mason's Gameplan is he didn't start games doing what he was known to do. He used to start off games passing and getting other players involved before he hit you with Hamner or Maroney or Russell. He made opposing Defenses (didn't always work) respect another aspect of the Offense to open up his main attack which was the running game. Several games we would come out passing...10 yards to Ellerson...8 yards to Spaeth...13 yards to Payne & then hit them with a 7 yard run. Why? Because now they are forced to Respect The Pass.

We're too predictable & we don't get enough players involved early to get the opposing team to be concerned about anybody but Decker. You think opposing coaches REALLY respect Weber? Can you name one game where Weber lit up a "GOOD" Defense? Cupito lit up Ohio State in 2005 for 395 yards in the air against a very strong Defense and we racked up 578 yards total in a losing effort. Good Offenses can keep Horrible Defenses off the field so imagine what it can do for a decent Defense.......

Weber relies on Decker so much that he would rather throw into double or triple or in some cases quadruple coverage instead of spotting Green or Stoudamire. I watched some Cupito games from 2006 the other day and Cupito was a good scanner, very good at finding open receivers, not perfect but had all the standard quarterback mechanicals...such as throwing the ball away.

Decker "IS" our Identity and it's sad. Can you imagine what our Offense would've been like the last 2 years with no Decker? Brewster has yet to prove he can coach up Offensive Talent and the argument about Decker isn't legit to me because watching the games in 2006 Decker was always this good he just wasn't the #1 WR at the time because we had Payne & Wheelwright and Wheelwright regressed horribly in 2007 forcing Decker to become the #1 WR.......

When "Weber To Decker" fails the Offense looks lost and it's sad to watch what used to be one of the most respectable offenses in the country has become.......

Brewster & Fisch have to learn to get other players involved early and make Defenses respect another aspect of our Offense because right now it isn't working.......

That's just 1 issue.......

Took about a 3rd grade education to figure out that The 12th Man was asking how thailleagle was going to solve the problems with the Gophers football team that thailleagle has been bitching about all over this site. I realize some aren't as bright to figure that out, though.
