Teams are awarded 1 point for every victory over a 1-A opponent, as well as 1 point for every victory over a 1-A opponent by the opponents they've defeated. For example, the Gophers will get a point for every 1-A win Miami-Ohio registers this season. Point differential (vs. 1-A opponents) then becomes the next criteria to rank teams.

Another pointless (no pun intended) ranking system till mid October.

Are you trying to tell me you don't think Texas and USC are the top 2 teams in the country?

I agree. In mid-October these rankings should more truly reflect the national landscape.

SS, did this idea come from somewhere? Or did you make it up yourself? Either way, it will be interesting to see how it stacks up at the end of the season.

Another pointless (no pun intended) ranking system till mid October.

Loving the pointless (pun intended) commentary that provides no avenue further intelligent discourse. Keep it up! I'm rootin' for ya.

Just something I came up with. I tried it 2-3 years ago here, and at the end of the season the list of top teams seemed reasonable, pretty comparable to what the rankings were.
