Sorry about this off topic note to station19 but I was in Alexandria/Lake Miltona last weekend and watched the band parade on Sunday. We were there to support the band from Norway by waving Norwegian flags. Lots of good High School bands but that parade moves slower than a baseball game. Life and parades seem to move slower in Alexandria, but I suspect that part of the good life there.
Could be because it is not a parade. It's a band festival.
I haven't seen it in years. They do put on a hell of a show and attract huge crowds.
Great photographs! To me it is a band parade when the bands march down the street. You can tell it is the slow season for football since we are now discussing the difference between a band festival and a parade. I am sure you are right though since main reason it takes so long is that they needs to separate the bands with a fair amount of distance so they can play their music and have time to do their routines without interference from other bands. Thanks - I better end this conversation now before I am "band" from this site for highjacking.
