It hasn't been that many years, new turf is nice but was there a need to replace it? Does this kind of artificial turf usually have such a short lifespan?
The turf was replaced two years ago because the NFL wanted to install the heating system. After the two years of the Vikings using the stadium, the U wanted their original field back in new condition....per rental contract.
Paint removal quickly destroys this type of turf. It is actually bad to paint it in the first place. Paint remover even worse. That's why everything is "sewn" in.
Dead on. In fact, the turf really can't be "reinstalled" at all. Taking it out inherently destroys it.
Turf has been reinstalled in the past...at least some types have.
Someone mentioned earlier on this thread; the cost of removing the turf, and reinstalling it would be cost prohibitive. Well no matter what you do with the turf you have to remove it, and the new place has to install something; so those cost are moot. I believe some of the used turfs have been donated to various organizations.
