I agree. The good thing is that, at least from what I can see, Morgan does have a quick release.
His girlfriend is trying to help him with that.

Big Dan in the backfield?
In my opinion, if Morgan plays well the Gophers have a decent chance to win. And I think he has to play well. A poor game and I think MN is in for a long day.
Have they really faced a dominant Run game yet? I mean Michigan has a solid run game with the Charbonnet kid - I believe he went for nearly 100 yards. With the elite DT for them suspended, there is a good chance our 3-headed monster (R. Smith, Brooks, Mo) could really wear them down. It will take some time, but we will gash them and then Tanner will need to hit the Slant patterns 100%. No incompetitions and no drops by WR's, IMHO
The strength of the Penn State defense is supposed to be their run defense.
I'm no coaching genius, but I have to wonder: If Minnesota can pound them running the ball — just physically dominate — it might very well be game over. Neutralize their strength.
I'm thinking the Gopher coaches might use a similar plan to the one they used against Wisconsin in Madison last season. Just grind them, push them around, lean on them, and then, when Penn State is forced to commit extra bodies to stopping the run, dagger them with Bateman, Johnson, Autman-Bell over the top.
You could say that about pretty much every team in the country, but good luck doing that against PSU's front 7.The strength of the Penn State defense is supposed to be their run defense.

It will certainly be a test. What would you say is the best offense you’ve seen this season? I’m not sure I see a lot on the schedule thus far. Michigan was mightily struggling early on with a new offense, MSU is struggling, Iowa is Iowa.
Michigan did a good job of picking up our blitzes. When the PSU defense has struggled under Brent Pry it has been when they haven't been able to get to the QB when blitzing. Schematically I don't think Michigan did anything special, they just executed. But at the same time, Michigan only scored 21 points. With all the talk of how well they played in the second half vs us, they only scored 14 points.
How did Buffalo get 180 yards rushing against Penn State earlier this year?
58 rushing attempts?
Buffalo had the ball for 42 minutes!
(Lost 45-13)

Penn St is stingy in the red zone. Their d appears to exemplify the “bend but don’t break” defense.I think our Oline and running game will be the key. If we can't run at all it will be really hard for the Oline to pass protect Morgan on every 3rd and long situation.
I think we will see a lot of creative plays on 1st and 2nd downs. No more holding the playbook back. Time to use every page!
. It would be surprising if Minnesota has sustained success running the ball vs PSU. If they are able to, and they would be the first team to do so, then Minnesota will be able to put up some points.
I can't really explain PSU's second half struggles offensively. Franklin definitely has a tendency to get conservative with the lead which we've seen dating back to the Rose Bowl vs USC. It is also a ridiculously young offense. All of their first and second string skill players are freshman and sophomores other than back up Tight End Nick Bowers. All but 2 TD's scored this year have been by freshman and sophomores, so I'm sure their youth is part of the inconsistency we have see on offense.
As for the defense, when you can shut down the opponent's run game and make them one dimensional, you are going to give up some yards through the air. It would be surprising if Minnesota has sustained success running the ball vs PSU. If they are able to, and they would be the first team to do so, then Minnesota will be able to put up some points.
Yeah, I was going to say PSU tends to get conservative with that defense. I think TOP could be an issue for PSU if it follows the team averages so far. Gophs have the ability to grind it out or strike quickly on offense. Several times this year they have struck quickly, after a quick stop on defense, having just gone on a long grinding drive the possession before.
