Want to start a thread on Tanner’s journey trying to make it into the NFL. Pittsburgh’s Rookie Mini camp started today and kind of cool to learn through this article what this 3-day mini camp is all about. Only 3 QBs this weekend so hopefully TM will impress the coaches.

Next goal is to make it to the 90 man roster for the team’s training camp.

I realize people are going to jump down my throat for saying this but Tanner can absolutely develop into a better NFL QB than Pickett and I have no doubt about that.

Better as in stronger? Like stronger than Pickett? Just asking for clarification.

Sorry you caught me before my edit. And I know he got better toward the end of last season but Pickett looked bad in his first few games last year. Like couldn't reliably get the ball to his receiver bad.

Interesting. Thanks for posting. Looks like the other two QBs in the camp are Bryce Perkins who actually played a bit for the Rams and Hunter Johnson who was at one point the highest rated QB recruit in the country but went to Clemson and was always behind Deshaun Watson then Trevor Lawrence.

Will be curious to follow how Morgan stacks up against these guys!

being smart and having a good attitude count for something.

when you look at some of the backup QB's in the NFL, a lot of them seem to lack some physical attributes, but they know their place and don't make trouble. I could see Morgan being a practice-squad QB with the right organization.

Morgan may surprise some folks. He has poise and maturity and can be a good game manager when QBs higher in the depth chart are injured. I can see him making the practice squad.

OC Matt Canada grew up in the Big Ten footprint, was a Big Ten guy and coached at Maryland in 2018 before getting swept up in the DJ Durkin debacle. Maybe Tanner will have an angel on his shoulder as he tries to land a paid spot. My other favorite underrated QB Kellen Moore had an OC at Detroit Scott Linehan -whom some of you may recall -that had also grown up in rural PNW. Maybe influenced Jim Schwartz to give the midget, average armed Moore a shot. Maybe biases, connections matter on the fringes. Maybe something, maybe nothing.

I can rip on Tanner AND support him, no? True definition of a “fan”, no?

I didn’t say you couldn’t, no? True definition of reading, no?

I think the NFL is going to allow 3 QB to dress this season.

Best case scenario for Tanner is a Chase Daniel type career. There would be nothing wrong with that.
There is nothing wrong with being a bench warmer and having career longevity drafted or undrafted. The value Tanner Morgan can bring to any team is to become a reliable backup quarterback in a pinch that doesn't demand a huge salary. I can see him having a successful career with limited injuries.

The goal for Tanner Morgan (and for WR Tyler Johnson) is to become eligible for pensions after playing three seasons and health insurance after retirement if they play for five years.

Some Tanner and Head Coach Mike Tomlin quotes

Good read, down to TM or Perkins

Hopefully TM will beat out Perkins

Looks like the former 5⭐️ Hunter is already out of contention for the 3rd string QB

Mike Tomlin gets it by giving Tanner Morgan a try. It is Tanner Morgan's to win or lose.
