Tamani Carter switches to Michigan

Have fun being 4th string and gettin whooped by OSU every year.

Why is there even such a thing as a verbal commitment? Seems to mean nothing to some of these kids, and also throw in some opposing coaches.

I'm guessing pretty much every coach in America continues to recruit certain kids even if they've already verbally committed somewhere else.

It would be interesting to see what percentage of kids eventually sign with the school they originally verbally committed to. I'm sure it's pretty high, maybe 85%?

I'm starting to dislike brady hoke. First he thinks he is too good to coach here and now he is going after our recruits. From what I have seen of him on TV it appears hoke loves hoke. With that attitude he should fit right in at scUM. Is Mike Golic (of Mike and Mike) his twin brother?

THAT'S who he looks like! Thank you, as that had been bothering me. I knew he totally looked like and reminded me of someone, but I just couldn't figure out who, and now I know. ;)

I think he looks even more like Jeff Garlin (Larry David's manager from Curb Your Enthusiasm).

First time I saw him I was thinking Mike and Mike in the morning. Golic and him separated at birth.

"verbal recruit" plays the little "I'm totally committed until a nicer offer comes along..." game. How can you people get so upset and hateful regarding this fantasy recruiing stuff. NEVER count on anything regarding a kid who is still in high school. Why get angry with the kid? You can kick yourself for being so emotionally involved with a fantasy high school recruit. Hate yourself for being that possessive of some kid who is being courted by recruiters who will simply move on along to the next fantasy recruit when they get stiffed by one they made an offer to whe verbally accepts their offer and then finds a prettier one to "dance with..."

Never count on anything until the kid is playing his final year for the program.

You super reactive people are pretty funny with your love/hate relationships with these fantasy recruits.

; 0 )

Are you bitter because your squad wasn't able to call Northern Illinois and trash the U before we hired Kill?

Why did you sissies take your names off the website?

so a total of 12 days after he commited to us he switches. What a dbag. We don't need morons like that anyway. Indecisive little prick. So what, does he switch his commitment everytime he takes an official visit or something? If he committed to us already then why would he visit Michigan(assuming that is what he did)? Seems pretty common sense that if you really aren't that thrilled with a school you shouldn't commit to it.

He's 17 or 18. Don't get so wound up in what he decides to do this week.

I don't disagree with you oh mighty walrus. I follow recruiting for fun, but I give all of these kids a break when they are making their decision. The decision they make is about the rest of their lives as much as it is about playing college football and when I was 17 or 18, I had a hard enough time choosing between Cream or Led Zeppelin.

In this particular instance, Carter made his decision to commit here before Hoke got his feet under him at Michigan. I'm not going to blame either Hoke or Carter. I wish he had come here, because he looks like someone who could contribute before he's through.

Were you this upset when Kill stole the Northern Illinois recruits from his old school?

And you don't understand the difference?

Stop posting here if you don't.

What??

Carter gets a better offer, takes it.

Northern Illinois guys get a better offer, take it.

How is that any different? Until they sign the letter, they can change their mind all they want. If Bjorklund comes to mn, how is that any different to Toledo?

Kill was recruiting those players the entire time, and when he was hired here the players followed him here.

I'm not hacking on Carter for changing his mind when the coaching staff changed at scUM, but it is on entirely different set of circumstances.

Bummer. I guess this gives me something to heckle him about when we play scUM at home..

Somewhat, but not with Bjorklund. Recruiting is recruiting. 18 year olds change their minds. Just the way it goes.

I agree with your point that you can't blame Michigan for recruiting whomever they want. I sure wouldn't feel bad if Marz switched over to MN or if we "stole" a recruit from anywhere else, so I can't really be too judgmental on Michigan.

That said, the Bjorklund situation isn't really similar. Most people don't think he ever committed to Toledo and if he did, he decommitted within a couple days. Bjorklund went from Toledo, to uncommitted to committed to MN.

We def cooled on him, for Carrington and Johnsons

Carrington began hearing from Minnesota about two or three weeks ago. He said he understands why they haven't decided to offer yet, as the new staff attempts to balance out their needs with a limited number of scholarships. He also mentioned some of the things he knew Minnesota had to offer. "They have great football facilities, it's in a great city, and there are nice people up there."

A scholarship offer might not be long in coming for Carrington, though. "They told me that there's one guy in front of me right now, a safety from Louisiana (Cortez Johnson). If he doesn't decide to commit, then it sounds like the offers going to become mine."

What was Hoke to do? He wasn't going to drag a bunch of guys from California to the Midwest. He has to find Midwest guys and I'm sure he knew that Carter liked Michigan. Hell it was probably Carter's people that tipped him off to it. It's all part of the recruiting game. You try to get the kid until he tells you to stop calling.

brady joke is still a scmuck

So is the Chizik.

Hamilton (Ariz.) Chandler offensive tackle Christian Westerman is saying War Eagle instead of Hook 'em Horns now. The five-star prospect, who committed to Texas in April, switched from Texas to Auburn today at a news conference at his high school.

"I have spent countless hours and months considering all the things that matter to me for my college future and football future and Auburn just came out on top in the end," Westerman said. "It was about the Auburn coaches, especially coach [Gene] Chizick and my offensive line coach, Jeff Grimes, the Auburn family and the fact that there was a relationship that has now been solidified for many months now. In the end it was about people, trust, love and family."

Wonder if this would have happened if Texas had hired Chryst and Bolstad.
