Talking Point

Scher,

Here is background/details on the restraining order from this morning's Star Tribune. It appears as if they got the court documents.

"Mbakwe, who sat out last season because of legal problems, agreed to cease contact with the woman in August 2009 when she sought a harassment restraining order, citing his alleged repeated, unwanted phone calls and communication with her. The woman, who said at the time that she had recently broken up with Mbakwe, told a Dakota County judge that she feared for her safety. Mbakwe was facing a felony assault charge at the time filed earlier that year while attending Miami Dade Community College.

Mbakwe denied the allegations of his ex-girlfriend, but agreed to stay away from her.

A day after the ex-girlfriend filed her request for a restraining order, Mbakwe sought a harassment restraining order against the 22-year-old woman, who did not respond to multiple interview requests Tuesday. He accused her of trailing him in a car and tracking him down at a relative's home, despite his desire to keep his distance from her.

"She threatened to leak false information to local newspapers and mutual friends after becoming mad about my relationship with my fiancée," Mbakwe's petition stated. A Hennepin County judge denied his request."

Ouch. Ya mean GopherLady's unnamed, biased source didn't quite get the story right? What a shock. GopherLady, there is a lesson in there for you too.

Thank you for that. Seems like a very dysfunctional relationship all around. I had very limited knowledge on the situation, from a Gopherhole article, and was speaking based on that. This whole situation seems to have so many different sides, stories, and elements it is difficult to keep straight.

This proves the original point of the thread. The only thing we know Trevor did was send an
Email wishing someone best wishes for the new year and he is being compared to O.J.
This also proves Art is still a jackwagon.

I was referring to O.J. Mayo.

What other O.J. is there?

Not sure if that's true, but apparently she was also too scared to defriend him on facebook.

It started out as a restraining order brought on by the girl. After some time Trevor and his now GF filed one against her to extend it and make it a no contact agreement. Reportedly, the woman who was so incredibly afraid of Trevor found time to "visit" his girlfriend and son at their daycare.

Yes Parrish, they've totally ignored those questions.

"What I want to know is what it is about Mbakwe that's led to him having issues (real or otherwise) with two totally different women in two totally different states, and whether his ability to average 13.4 points and 10.4 rebounds per game has helped school officials ignore the answer to that question."

I guess suspending him for an entire season = ignoring the question in his world? What would he call what Auburn has done? Addressing the issue in an agressive manor?

It was a Facebook message (not a wall post) you can do that without being friends. However, they probably should have both had each other blocked.

Haha, seriously. I can't figure out why he threw that comment in there. We have had our share of off the court problems, but it's not like our administration has ignored them. Suspension after suspension apparently means they aren't asking questions.

I guess I didn't really think about that since the actual post was eventually released. I suppose that doesn't really matter though. Maybe they were still facebook friends though. Either way, it's hard to believe that was a very threatening message. Maybe if she ignored it and he kept sending more messages I guess. I realize you're on board with that. I'm just thinking outloud.
