Taking poster's advice. Avoid GH for 2-3 days. Downers can have their echo chamber

You think people are overreacting, but at the end of the day, football comes down to talent, effort, and coaching, so one of the following must be true:

1) the Gopher are less talented than a team that went 1-18 in its last 19 B1G games
2) the Gophers were too lazy to give as much effort as a team in the dumps playing for a dead coach walking
3) Kill got outcoached by a guy who is 1-18 in his last 19 conference games.

There are lots of overreactions on this board. This game is not one of them, this one really was inexcusable.

Here's some things we can focus on:

1. We tried hard. And

2. We're still dear friends!

Gophers Win = We're great!

Gophers Lose = We're terrible!

As usual, the truth lies somewhere in between. The Gophers have some talent, but they also have problems/weaknesses.

I think what you are missing is who we lose to. I don't think anyone expects us to beat OSU, so if we lose that game I do not believe that there will be an overreaction. But when we lose to the worst team in the big 10, in a game we should win, there is a reason to be upset, IMO.

Seriously to Badger the fans who lost to Northwestern on the road and they had an awful game and I am sure the fans were disappointed but they overcame it and moved on. Penn St. got crushed by NW at home and yes NW is not a bad football team but in 29-6 would be disappointing to many fans out there. They did not sit and pout the fans came back roaring while players most certainly improved from those games and came back and almost beat OSU with an outstanding crowd. Yes Illinois was 1-18 in Conference play it sucks to lose to that kind of team. But this is college football. Teams are going to lose, teams are also going to get upset. Unfortunately there was a team out there that was still playing in front of a home crowd with some descent play makers that still work hard week in and week out to try to win a game just like every other football team. Illinois came out and beat us period. It is disappointing but it happens especially to the gophers. But we are still tied for 1st and alot to cheer for the rest of the season. I have seen seasons where Minnesota loses to Indiana at home and beat OSU on the road. We are an inconsistent team that seems to decide to show up. Would not be surprised if they beat OSU as some people think that is fantasy land now. As a gopher fan this loss sucks and it is inexcusable but what else are you going to do just screw off the rest of the season and think we are not going to win one more game or improve over practices during the bye week. I mean yeah we lost to Illinois but lets not forget we beat a good NW team that killed PSU on the road and man PSU's stadium was rocking against OSU. I dont know how someone can come out of there with a win like NW did. We beat Michigan, yes they are terrible but if we were to be labeled the Same old gophers like some of the people are we would of had to lose that game but we won. Purdue actually kept up with MSU and we found a way to win. Lets not forget we were a fumble TD away from beating Illinois and still being a "Wonderful team with a fantastic coach" to all of the negative nancys on here and everywhere else. Get over it. It is only Illinois. Save the energy for Iowa and Wiscy.
