Report: Bush, Lake settle lawsuit

SAN DIEGO -- It appears Reggie Bush has reached an out-of-court settlement with a fledgling sports marketer who is trying to recoup nearly $300,000 in cash and gifts the star running back and his family allegedly accepted while he was playing at the University of Southern California.

A settlement could stymie the NCAA and Pacific-10 Conference in their investigations of whether Bush and his parents took improper benefits. Bush has not met with NCAA and Pac-10 investigators, and has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing.

Attorney Brian Watkins, who represents Lloyd Lake in his lawsuit against Bush, tells The Associated Press that depositions involving his client and former partner Michael Michaels have been called off.

A call to Bush's attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley, was not immediately returned.

Yahoo! Sports first reported news of a settlement in the case.

That's pure propaganda. If that's the excuse they use it's a pretty poor one. Bush already testified, as far as the NCAA is concerned whether or not he settled is irrelevant.

Any other conclusion is just evidence the NCAA is giving USC a free pass. C'mon Brew, coach the boys up now more than ever I want to see the Trojans go down in Minneapolis.

As other posters in earlier threads have noted, let's hear the Gopher band reprise their patented cover of 'Rocky Top'
