SUPPORT YOUR COACH AND SCHOOL !!!

Careful you have only posted 33 times on this board. When I said something similar to calm down fellow Gopher fans, I was told that I "needed to sit in the back of the room and keep my mouth shut."

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhut up for a while.

Good jebus. Just add a +1 or an LOL once in a while. Then throw in a little Ski-U-Mah, a little spin your head. Feel your way up the ladder. When challenged, accept defeat, but live to post another day.

[Source: I'm awesome] <-I think I'll make that my sig line.

I'll take that over Brewster's false bravado any day of the week.

I don't think Brewster had false bravado, I think he was just over confident. He didn't just say he wanted to play some good teams in the NC, he scheduled it. So he was pretty confident, he was just wrong.

Parski1---- Most people, even those on this board, do not understand building a program. Like it or not it will take 4-5 yrs. to implement his full rebuilding. The reason that he wants a little softer pre season for awhile is to build depth being able to play more kids and still win a game. Looking at most winning teams they are made up of 3=4=5th yr.players not RcSFr. Sophs and RS Sophs . It is only 2 or 3 yrs. but at this age it's like putting men against boys. If he does this in his 4-5th yr. then you can bitch. If we ever want to get to the Rose Bowl we have to win the Big Ten, not the 3 or 4 preseason games. Support coach Kill for another 3 yrs.

I'm done bitching about this topic as well but I have to call BS on the whole we need to play easier opponents in order to play more guys excuse. A handful of snaps during garbage time during a blowout are not going to have that big an impact on the development of players. And if we struggle with that team (UNLV, WMU, NMSU last year) those other guys aren't going to see the field anyway.

Kill wants to pad the record with an easy win. End of story. He is not wrong for wanting this, and lots of other schools have done and still do the same thing. The problem is paying 800K to get out of a game that was on the schedule. Don't schedule those teams in the future, but don't run from a game that you should be able to compete in even if you don't like it just so that you can protect your record and your teams/coaches fragile egos.

What's done is done though. We know where Jerry stands and we know the administration is grudgingly going along with him on this one. Time to see if this staff can salvage something from this season and then we will go from there.

Go Gophers!

Defeat? DOH KAY! Challenged? How sad.

oh p.s. spin your head! how's that? I can't wait until someone with 7,000 posts comes and takes you down a notch

People in Minnesota want a winner, but are delusional on how to get one. I can't believe the uproar over this. Who cares? Jerry Kill is going to provide a hell of a lot more than 800k of value to this program over his time here! As someone who grew up in Minnesota and moved away it offers a different perspective. Did you hear what Jerry Kill said today on the radio? Minnesota has won more than 8 games once in the last 45 years, and has finished in the top 3 in the big ten what, once or twice in the last 40 years? Basically, sucked ass for the better part of the last 40 years! Who the hell do you think Minnesota is going to get as a head coach??? I wonder if Jerry Kill is a little bit surprised/shocked by how some Minnesotans react? I think he is and I think he probably laughs a little bit and shakes his head (what else can he do).

He stated that this program isn't where it was under Glen Mason and they don't even have the players they did under Mason and that you can ask anyone that knows anything about football, including the former players and coaches of the big ten network that travel to every football program every year.

The guy is trying to rebuild a program and build a winner. He's using the rules of the game/process to his advantage (so dumb). So Minnesotans, wake up and get behind the fact that you have a hard nosed coach who will bust his ass and (unlike some clueless people on this forum think) has teams that will not give up and will play until the end of the game and the end of the season! Minnesota has a beautiful new stadium, a new University President, a new athletic director, and a real football coach (after the complete debacle and joke that preceeded him for 4 years).

So where these expectations come from, are from people filled with delusion. Stop bitching like a bunch of spoiled little girls and do what you can to support the here and now! We're in the middle of the fricking season!!! The mentality of some of the people in my home state embarrasses me. I could see something different if the program had won more than 8 games more than one time in the last 45 years! I could see something different if the program had finished in the top 2 in the Big Ten once in the last 44 years!!! Like Kill said, maybe we should wait until we have the depth and players to make it more than 2 games into the Big Ten schedule without having to play a ton of freshman and red shirt freshman before we start worrying about who we play! The guy knows what the hell he is doing and he was a damn good hire for this program at this time! Remember, no one else wanted the damn job!!!

Exactly.

I agree with the overall sentiment of this thread, cancelling the NC series wasn't the greatest decision, but it's over and done with, get over it already, let's move forward.

That's right. In the end the only thing that matters are BIG TEN WINS ; 0 )

I also want to point out that a discussion or Gopher fans ripping the decision about cancelling the UNC series is to be expected. However, the non-fans chiming in to take it as an opportunity to rip the program is annoying. For reference, see the Souhan article posted by Bleed.

I'm done venting on this one. It's a bad decision, but I still support Coach Kill and the program 100%. Beat the Badgers......

Nah! Let's drive the program and Kill into the ground so we can complain about it for another 45 years. It what we do best! Besides it helps recruiting so much that I am sure we will be able to complain about that also.

Why on earth would we want to build our program the same way Wisconsin did? It can't be the right way if Wisconsin did it and besides, we hate everything they do.

Lastly, everybody here knows that any coach would love to come here and that it is easy to change a culture. Now everybody go to your window and open it up and shout out "I'm as mad as hell and I am not going to take it anymore."

Very well said. Go Gophers, bring home the Axe!

+100

Great post. I wasn't thrilled about the way we backed out but we hired the guy to build the program his way.

Yep John Galt is right. What's done is done. Time to move on. Complaining about it will not bring the UNC series back. Also it's Axe week and you should be believing that we will get it back. Rah Rah Rah for Ski U Mah!!!

But see, there's a bit of disconnect there. Consider what has just happened. Kill and Teague just announced that we have canceled a series with a middle of the road UNC team because we simply aren't good enough to compete with them. They do this on the eve of playing on the road against a team and program that is much better and has kicked us to the curb 15 of the last 17 times we've played them. Taking that into account, it's pretty hard to get excited about a road game (even if it is against our most bitter rival) after what has transpired the last few days. If you have the stuff to do it, then feel free. But don't blame other folks if they're a little less than enthused at this point.

People (fair-weather fans) are getting their undies in a bunch I believe in Jerry kill. We will be just fine.

I agree. Support the school, the team and the coach in good times and bad.

For better or worse, I am "married" to this football program. I was not happy about the UNC decision, but I am still going to support this team. They deserve it (especially the kids). Minnesotans are stubborn, and I hope that after a little success, the people who are still upset will again support Kill and Teague.

Love the marriage comparison. So true. I've been married since I was five and it has been a very rocky road the entire time. Getting Lou Holtz was like my wife getting a boob job only to have her change her mind a year later and get it reduced.

The UNC move was lame in every way. No way to get around that imo, but I'm not losing sleep over it. There will be lots more ups and downs in the coming years. I can only hope Kill provides another enhancement for me to get excited about.
