People in Minnesota want a winner, but are delusional on how to get one. I can't believe the uproar over this. Who cares? Jerry Kill is going to provide a hell of a lot more than 800k of value to this program over his time here! As someone who grew up in Minnesota and moved away it offers a different perspective. Did you hear what Jerry Kill said today on the radio? Minnesota has won more than 8 games once in the last 45 years, and has finished in the top 3 in the big ten what, once or twice in the last 40 years? Basically, sucked ass for the better part of the last 40 years! Who the hell do you think Minnesota is going to get as a head coach??? I wonder if Jerry Kill is a little bit surprised/shocked by how some Minnesotans react? I think he is and I think he probably laughs a little bit and shakes his head (what else can he do).
He stated that this program isn't where it was under Glen Mason and they don't even have the players they did under Mason and that you can ask anyone that knows anything about football, including the former players and coaches of the big ten network that travel to every football program every year.
The guy is trying to rebuild a program and build a winner. He's using the rules of the game/process to his advantage (so dumb). So Minnesotans, wake up and get behind the fact that you have a hard nosed coach who will bust his ass and (unlike some clueless people on this forum think) has teams that will not give up and will play until the end of the game and the end of the season! Minnesota has a beautiful new stadium, a new University President, a new athletic director, and a real football coach (after the complete debacle and joke that preceeded him for 4 years).
So where these expectations come from, are from people filled with delusion. Stop bitching like a bunch of spoiled little girls and do what you can to support the here and now! We're in the middle of the fricking season!!! The mentality of some of the people in my home state embarrasses me. I could see something different if the program had won more than 8 games more than one time in the last 45 years! I could see something different if the program had finished in the top 2 in the Big Ten once in the last 44 years!!! Like Kill said, maybe we should wait until we have the depth and players to make it more than 2 games into the Big Ten schedule without having to play a ton of freshman and red shirt freshman before we start worrying about who we play! The guy knows what the hell he is doing and he was a damn good hire for this program at this time! Remember, no one else wanted the damn job!!!
