Yeah, I’m pissed we cancelled the UNC games . . .
Yeah, I’m pissed we gave up $800,000 . . .
Yeah, I’m pissed we were embarrassed against Northwestern . . .
Yeah, I’m pissed we are 0 and 2 in our conference . . .

However, I support Kill & Co 100%. He just stated in his Thursday interview on KFAN, “I was hired to change 45 years of frustration.” He has a proven track record. He took his former team and came to MN and embarrassed us. He is a great coach. He is a great recruiter. He knows how to win. He knows how to change a program for the better.

It will take time. We have not won a Big Ten title in 45 years. That is his #1 concern.

Despite being at the Iowa and Northwestern games, I am going to go to WI to watch that game.

I know we hit rock bottom as a program because my brother, a die-hard Gopher fan, has never been more upset in his life about the Minnesota Golden Gopher football program. I know Gopher fans everywhere are feeling the same way. However, now, more than ever, it is time to support your new coaching staff and young team and change the next 45 years for the positive.

I HAVE NEVER FELT MORE ENCOURAGED ABOUT THE FUTURE OF GOLDEN GOPHER FOOTBALL!!!!!!!! BELIEVE!!! JERRY JERRY JERRY!!!

I really don't get the uproar personally. Did people think we would be rose bowl bound this year? Most had us at 5-7 or 6-6. I know i did.
We were 4-0 going into Iowa, awesome! But a L there isn't indicitive of the future, the NW loss sucked, but i saw a team get down 7-0 with 10 secs and claw their way back into it, with a chance to win in the 4th quarter.
I'm on board until i see a L indicitive of a bigger problem, and I'm not going to judge any coach until his 4th year.
We'll get this thing going again, it's just going to take much more time than everyone wants.

No way, it's much easier to be mad at everything so when things go wrong, people can say "I told you so".

I support my school...I still can question why Kill is afraid to play NC. I don't get that.

By the way, we're 4-2 and have beaten two decent teams. There has been considerable improvement. I like how we play, and I still love going to the games. People need to chill.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

In your many years as a proctologist, I’m sure you have found a few misplaced heads. I would assume extraction isn’t always an easy thing.

Whether we like it or not, we have to move on now.

My marriage to the Gophers has ups and downs, but always my support.

Are you attempting to be funny again?

No. It is just that you have asked the same question, though slight variation, time and time again in different threads.

Maybe no one can answer your "I don't understand why...." series of the same question.

I'm with your brother.

Alright, I get that it's key for the supporters of this program to get back on board. It is also okay to be critical of this head scratching decision.

My question for you guys, is "How would you fix this from a PR perspective?" Is it just going to take time and winning? Coach Kill and the programs fuel tank with both hardcore and casual fans went from being 7/8 full to 1/4 full in just a few days. We have to be honest about that.

I don't agree with the decision, but it is one decision...not the entire portfolio of his work as HC of MN or as a HC in general. Along with that, Coach Kill has been HC of College football for a number of years whereas I have no HC experience at any level...It might be good to give him the benefit of the doubt on this decision.

Couldn't agree more man. Why is everyone SO crazy about this?! I see no problem with this at all. We just need to chill out and relax. Some of the people beating the "play a better non-con" drum are also the people who say they ONLY care about B1G Ten wins. Quite frankly, I am most concerned with are B1G Ten wins. And, honestly, they have been few and far between the past couple of years. (Even the past decade if you want to get really nitt-picky).

The Non-Conference schedule is nice to have marquee games, but in all reality, we are not yet equipped to be beating ourselves up in the NC. That's what conference play is for. So, if Coach Kill is for it, I am for it. And, when he changes his mind and wants to beef up the schedule, I will support that 100% as well. With where we are as a program right now, we need ALL the WINS we can get and build some confidence in our players and program.

With all that said, I believe in what Kill is saying, he is there, everyday, with the players and he knows what he has to work with and what he does not. So, in closing, GO GOPHERS! :)

I agree, but here's the thing: He has put a HUGE target on himself now. I truly truly hope that I'm proven wrong and this strategy works out long term. But Kill has made his own bed with this move. Nobody forced Kill and Teague to make this move and now he's asking us to trust him. Usually, trust is earned and it's far to early to trust anything right now, especially since he's currently got a team that hasn't mastered the art of the center-quarterback exchange six games into his second year. For the time being, I will give him the benefit of the doubt. But make no mistake, the program is a complete joke as it stands. Kill thinks so and so does Teague. Alright then boys, here's your chance to make Minnesota football no joking matter. Just don't be surprised when no one takes your yearly 4-0 records at all seriously over the next few seasons.

In listening to his interview today, he's clearly aware of that.

I actually have a lot more respect for Kill after this. He made a move that he knew wouldn't be popular but that he thought gave us a better chance to be competitive down the road. I don't have to agree with his decision to respect him sticking to his guns.

I'll take that over Brewster's false bravado any day of the week.

Wish I would have been able to hear it. As it stands, things look really bad from my perspective. Like I said, I will gleefully admit I'm totally wrong if this plan works. If it doesn't, the firestorm will almost certainly get Kill fired.

The bolded has not been proven and I'd argue that the recruiting aspect of your claim borders on having already been proven false. There has to be a middle ground between Jerry Kill is great and Jerry Kill is terrible and should be replaced immediately. Both are equally ridiculous positions to take. So far, the Gophers are 2-8 in conference play under Jerry Kill and lets see where they are at the end of the season. Next year, the team needs a minimum of 3 conference wins to claim the program is headed in the right direction.

Careful you have only posted 33 times on this board. When I said something similar to calm down fellow Gopher fans, I was told that I "needed to sit in the back of the room and keep my mouth shut."

Wish I would have been able to hear it. As it stands, things look really bad from my perspective. Like I said, I will gleefully admit I'm totally wrong if this plan works. If it doesn't, the firestorm will almost certainly get Kill fired.
This strategy sure worked for Wisconsin. They went from being totally irrelevant in Big 10 football, to annually competing for New Years Day Bowl games and Big 10 titles most years.

It is amazing how so many folks on this board jump at every chance they can to criticize the football program and how "their" coach is being so severly criticized during the first half of his 2nd year. Let's see how things play out before crucifying coach and questioning everything. Things needed to be changed in the football program and Coach Kill is changing things. IMHO people need to get over their dissappointment and support the team so that they can exceed most expert's predictions before the season and make a bowl game! Note, this part of my post is not directed at you MRJ.

I much prefer seeing us play another game in December or January than a game against a school that has very little emotional draw from a football perspective. Relax and enjoy the ride. I love Gopher football, and could not care less about this game cancellation.

Parski1---- Most people, even those on this board, do not understand building a program. Like it or not it will take 4-5 yrs. to implement his full rebuilding. The reason that he wants a little softer pre season for awhile is to build depth being able to play more kids and still win a game. Looking at most winning teams they are made up of 3=4=5th yr.players not RcSFr. Sophs and RS Sophs . It is only 2 or 3 yrs. but at this age it's like putting men against boys. If he does this in his 4-5th yr. then you can bitch. If we ever want to get to the Rose Bowl we have to win the Big Ten, not the 3 or 4 preseason games. Support coach Kill for another 3 yrs.

I call total b.s. on this! All most fans care about (both hardcore and casual) is that the program shows improvement.

I'm done venting on this one. It's a bad decision, but I still support Coach Kill and the program 100%. Beat the Badgers......

Yep John Galt is right. What's done is done. Time to move on. Complaining about it will not bring the UNC series back. Also it's Axe week and you should be believing that we will get it back. Rah Rah Rah for Ski U Mah!!!
