With all the visitors coming in over the next few weeks, it's time we had a separate thread. So far, we have 39 signed up (24 on May 30th and 15 on June13th). From all indications, this is one of, if not the best group we've had. It looks like all have either committed or are warm with the exception of one.

It's interesting to see all the strategies from other Big 10 teams; for example, Wisconsin has 48 coming in over 5 weeks with varying interests and commitments to other teams. Iowa has 21 over 7 weeks, again with varying interests. I'm not seeing anything that remotely resembles the "Summer Splash".

I have not had the time to dig deep to see how many commits we've gotten from this event in the past, but as I remember it's between 5 and 10. It is a great way to showcase Minnesota's lakes without the reputational cold. I'd like to see it closer to 10 commits this year. Also, here's a Sports Illustrated article on our recruiting efforts:

Recruiting 2026

Personally I like the concept of getting as many recruits on campus together as possible at the same time. Also like mixing guys that have committed with targets in order to try and form a bond between them.

Seems like this summer event has been very successful, if it wasn't they wouldn't keep doing it.

Random - but I just want to thank you for your active engagement on this forum. You bring good energy and solid takes. Cant wait for this season!

Has P.J. moved into his new home yet? I think the time on Lake Minnetonka is a big part of Summer Splash.

with all the traffic of recruits and transfers, I think that's the best way to get team chemistry built as quick as possible.

Agreed, you get your players recruiting.

Also for some of these kids facing first time away from home .... knowing there's some dudes you like might be appealing.

Great article from SI on the Summer Splash.

Summer Splash 1.0: Every 2026 recruit scheduled for official visit with Gophers this weekend

  • Darion Jones, CB (Omaha, NE)
Jones is another player who has been on Minnesota's radar for a long time. The Gophers were his first Big Ten offer in Febuary. He took an official visit to Kansas State last weekend and he'll visit Minnesota before stops at Iowa State and Iowa in June.
Is this guy not even considering his home state school? That would be awesome.

Summer Splash...supposed to be hot and sunny this weekend!

Gophers football enters key recruiting stretch, hoping for another big ‘Summer Splash’

Over the next three weeks, Fleck will await his own figurative white smoke moments as the Gophers host two “Summer Splash” recruiting weekends. Close to 40 high school seniors-to-be will make their official visits to Minnesota and receive their recruiting pitches from Fleck, his staff and current players.

Ten recruits already have verbally committed to the Gophers, and Fleck will try to run that number into the low 20s this weekend and June 13-15. And when a recruit pledges to Minnesota, Fleck has a smoke sign of sorts. He’ll send a bat signal on the X social media platform.

Fleck is pushing hard to land two of the best players in Minnesota in the 2026 recruiting class: Jackson County Central High School athlete Roman Voss, the top-ranked player in the state, according to Prep Redzone, and Triton High School athlete Pierce Petersohn, the fourth-ranked player in the state by Prep Redzone.

Voss projects as a tight end, while Petersohn is targeted as a linebacker, and both will visit campus this weekend. Two other highly ranked in-state players who’ve pledged to the Gophers will visit June 13: Rocori offensive tackle Andrew Trout, ranked No. 2 in Minnesota, and Forest Lake defensive lineman Howie Johnson, ranked No. 3 in the state. Voss, Petersohn and Trout are four-star recruits in the 247Sports composite, and Johnson is a high three-star.

Go Gophers!!

Well, if history is any indicator, we should have a number of announcements tomorrow afternoon with the wrapping up of Week 1 of Summer Splash. It sounds like there isn't much of a chance that we'll see a commitment from Voss or Petersohn with their other official visits scheduled. However, who knows, we may see a surprise or two tomorrow afternoon, after all these recruits have some conversations with the Coaches and potential teammates.

No telling what these kids will be thinking after purifying themselves in the waters of Lake Minnetonka.
