saw a note in the Strib that Isaac Asuma is attending the Summer practices - but - he is also a member of the Cherry HS baseball team that qualified for the State HS Baseball tournament. He pitches and is listed as a utility player. So Asuma will be going back-and-forth between basketball practice in Minneapolis and State Tournament games in St. Cloud.

Isaac's cousin Noah Asuma is the starting SS and ace pitcher for Cherry. he is considered one of the top baseball recruits in MN for the 2026 graduating class.

9 of the players from the state Basketball championship team for Cherry are also on the Baseball team.

Makes sense that there is a lot of crossover with guys from a smaller school.

Good to hear Isaac is making it work to attend summer practices though, hopefully he can be a productive part of the rotation this season.

Regardless of the activity whether in the Arts and Performance, Clubs, or Athletics - you will find incredibly high participation levels in small schools.. The bottom line is small schools can't afford specialization, that literally shuts a program down in our smaller schools.

If they make the championship, the trip to the game is a lot shorter.
