After seeing Sullinger for the first significant amount of time last night, I'm already anxious to see how our big guys play against him. Our bigs (Colton, RSIII & Mo, specifically) will need to have their lunch pails when we play OSU. He is a beast. Perhaps our depth in the post can wear him down some, I hope? Lauderdale didn't even get off the bench in the second half last night, and for good reason.

I like 3 against 1. Although that number may be 2 against 1 if Ralph doesn't bring some attitude to the game. I think Mo will be ready.

I can't wait to see dboy's post in this thread...

The addition of Sullinger makes the OSU outside shooting deadly. It's pick your poison- double Sullinger and suffer the consequences from the outside or take him on one on one. Personally- I'd rather see us take him on more one on one and expend our 15 fouls on him. I think Tubby will double him down and we will have to hope they go cold from the perimeter.

If OSU doesn't get injuries I think they are a big favorite in the Big Ten.

Was he the guy saying Sullinger is overrated?
Yup, dboy said he is incredibly overrated, and only gets a lot of his rebounds off of free throw misses, so they shouldn't count. He said the same thing about KG as well. dboy is a hoot

I think Trevor and Sullinger guarding each other is going to be a foul fest.

I can't wait to see dboy's post in this thread...

dboy? do you mean that expert who claimed that Sullinger is a woose? Over rated, can get any rebounds of free throws without jumping? And free throws are easy to make? Oh ya, I remember him. BTW, where is he?

dboy felt sorry for you 'experts' after Florida state ate him up... yes, he had 13 official boards, but at least five of those were his own shots after eating leather... he looked like he was nailed to the floor in that game... did you guys even watch it? 1st team all-am??

however,

i didn't want to be flagged for excessive celebration... game after game i kept my head low and my mouth shut... then he goes for 40 against an interior D worse that Fla... and you guys wet yourselves?

bottom line: he's not 26/15... even w/bunnies ('bunnies'... missed defensive FTs rebounds, rebounds off your own miss or 'leather lunch')

if i audit bunnies, he had zero rebounds against FSU.

ahem:

12:09 Jared Sullinger missed Two Point Jumper. 43-32
12:07 Jared Sullinger Offensive Rebound. 43-32 <<<<< 'bunnie'
12:06 Jared Sullinger missed Two Point Layup. 43-32
12:06 43-32 Chris Singleton Block.

bunnie #2
defensive rebound under :30 up by 10+... these should not count in official stats:

0:26 David Lighty Block. 58-44
0:25 Jared Sullinger Defensive Rebound. 58-44
0:00 End Game

There are a lot of dumbasses on GopherHole, but you really take the cake. I mean, wow. Congratulations on your epic as-heretofore-unreached levels of dumbassery.

He must be the first player in college basketball history ever to get an easy rebound here or there!!! Doesn't he know that every rebound he gets he needs to fight off a minimum of three guys from the other team in order for it to be a legitimate board? How dare he ever miss a shot or try to follow his miss!!!

And since that IUPUI defense is so bad, I'm assuming we will regularly see guys put up 40 points in a game against them this season. How many times has that happened so far now?

like i said, he was nailed to the floor:

16:25 35-23 OHST Jared Sullinger missed Jump Shot, Blocked by Xavier Gibson
16:19 OHST Defensive Rebound by Jared 16:19 <<< bunnie

13:38 40-30 OHST Jared Sullinger missed Layup, Blocked by Chris Singleton

12:07 40-35 OHST Jared Sullinger missed Jump Shot, Blocked by Chris Singleton

he tried one more FG the rest of the game... he was rocked. you guys need to dig into the stats.

use the '50 year old fat bald guy with rusty skills' as the benchmark....

ie: could this guy have done what sullinger just did?

ex: a jump-hook over chris singleton of FSU, then, no... the 50 year old couldn't do it...
call this a "non-bunnie".

ex: a goal-mouth feed where jared is undefended and dunks/lays-in.... then, yes, the 50 year old could do it... (the lay-in anyway) this is a "bunnie'...

now tally the bunnies/non-bunnies and if all 40 points are non-bunnies, i'll eat crow.

No matter how you slice it, 40 & 13 is 40 & 13.

No matter the competition, how many times do you see a freshman -- or an upperclassman -- put up those kind of numbers against anyone? He must be doing something right.

I know a lot of "50 year old fat bald guy(s) with rusty skills" who can drain open 3s all day. I also know a lot who could probably shoot 70-80% on FTs too. So now 3s and FTs made are illegitimate stats as well? I mean, listen to yourself. You can't seriously believe the words that are coming out of your fingers.

non-bunnies are skills that are effective against anyone.. and at the next level..
bunnies are opportunities that are not available against good teams nor at the next level..

so an open 3 via a slow trigger would NOT be available against a good team nor next level. but a quick trigger fad-away NBA range 3 might be..

a FT usually requires skill to even have one become available... only way the fat 50-year old can even attempt a FT against good team or next level is the under-1-minute-hug-the-ball-and-get-fouled-because-our-team-is-up-20 routine... in those cases, i have lobbied that those stats should be null and void. so the fat 50 year old would never, ever get a FT attempt against good team nor next level.

clear?

You should work for Elias, dboy.

I guess until Sullinger puts up 100 pts in a game against Duke at Cameron Indoor in the midst of a blizzard we will have to read this dboy garbage. Or will it take a 200 pt. game while simultaneously fighting off al-kaida attacks?

Dboy, if not Sullinger, what frontcourt players do you like in the college game today and that meet your approval?

Meanwhile, all of the coaches and former players who follow and know the game will think like the rest of us.

Yes, quite clear.

You are completely and utterly full of sh*t.

I might use that as a signature, I hope you don't mind.

my squabble here was I didn't think sullinger was first team all-american... i have never said he is garbage.. but i do think many of his stats are 'bunnies'... we'll see how he does against our front court.. my guess is he will be head-faking five minutes into the game...

you are obviously 50..

and fat

and bald

and have a slow-trigger.

and did the ball-hug thing late in the game.

and gobbled missed ft's late in a game.

exposed?

just let it hang out there... the truth feels good after a while.

Nope. I'm 30 and fat with a full (too full) head of hair, and I've been terrible-to-pathetic at basketball my whole life. I don't appreciate you hitting on me, though.

You still have absolutely no clue what you're talking about.

I watched most of this game last night and thought Sullinger was very impressive; however, IUPUI was undersized and unimpressive on defense. They would constantly let Sullinger go one-on-one in the post, and their only physical big man (Christian Siakam, 6'7" 245) fouled out with 10 minutes to go in the game. Once Siakam was out, Sullinger basically had uncontested lay-ups for the rest of the game and ended up scoring 20 of his 40 points in the last 10 minutes.

It will be very interesting to see how the Gophers match up against Sullinger. If Mo Walker can get in better shape, I could see him being a player similar to Sullinger in the future.

I'm not sure if the 200 points would count in 'dboy stats' since the simultaneous terrorist attacks would probably distract the other players, thus allowing Sullinger to stand under the rim and pad his numbers with his own rebounds.

Threads involving dboy - especially when he speaks in 3rd person - have become comical, I actually laughed out loud at this one. :D

dboy isn't worth responding to. He doesn't understand bball and the responses only reward him.

It seems your definition of 'bunnies' (seemingly anything other than a fade-away halfcourt three-pointer while falling over the scorers table with Dwight Howard in your grill) could be slightly different than what the rest of the world considers 'bunnies.'
