Student Tickets on Sale Saturday AM

New, but incredibly stupid. There will be alot of red in the student section...like usual.

I don't think the guest pass isn't new (I believe they started it last season) but the "can be used by anyone" part definitely is. And yes, very dumb.

I don't think it's dumb at all. It's about time they did this. That's how it was for football and basketball for the past 14 years that I've been around. They changed it for football with the new stadium, and instead of having 10K students like they did in the Dome, they had a 1/2 to 3/4 full section.

Will that mean more students from opposing schools? Yes. But I think the majority will go to a lot of recent grads, family members, friends, etc. that will be sporting gold.

I would love to have enough students at one of the largest universities in the nation to fill up our student section, but let's be honest, we're not there yet.

Why is it dumb? The guest pass is the price of a regular season ticket ($275). If a student doesn't buy it, it will just be sold as a single game ticket, which means it will be bought by a fan of the visiting team, if it's bought at all. If the student can make some profit on it by selling it to the other side, good for him/her.

Yeah, last year was the first year of this. I remember reading in the Daily last year that they sold less than 50 guest passes. So NBD.

Whatever the case I would rather see the seats full then empty. I dont care who it is just get someone in the seats and let them see the new gophers play. I think the more people who can experience what TCF bank stadium has to offer the better for the U.

I don't know...an upper deck of the Student Section full of NoDaks, Becky's, and Huskers just doesn't appeal to me.

Like others have suggested, those extra tickets are regular price and not many sold next year. I doubt students will be investing $285 to get tickets for their freinds at other schools to use.

That makes sense to me...but I'm still a little confused on one point. Were the passes usuable by anyone last year too? I guess I thought I remembered more restrictions on them.

I'm a graduate student and don't know anyone that would want to get student tickets for the entire year. I'm one of the 50 that bought a guest pass. It required you to scan/show a student id to get the guest in the game.

Blame that on student apathy, not the ticket office. As GL stated, it would be great to have 10,000 students at the games, but we know its going to be several thousand short of that. One way or the other, that area is going to be swarming with Bison/Husker/Badger/Hawkeye fans.

like i said in another thread, last year's student section set the bar so low. it was the worst performance from the students considering the new stadium that i can remember in a long long time. pre-mason years.
