The same high school senior who had zero D-I scholarship offers became one of this spring’s hottest targets in the transfer portal before signing for reportedly millions in NIL to play for new Tar Heels coach Michael Malone, a former NBA champion with Denver.

Once Brown found a D-I school that believed in him after prep school, he used the portal to move from FDU in New Jersey to Utah in Salt Lake City and now UNC on Tobacco Road.

As I mentioned awhile back, the mid-majors and lower D1 schools will become the Community College/Jr College schools in the modern era. They promise the development and playing time that will get them noticed at the high major level. The actual Jr College gets an advantage of kids playing without losing any years in college. They essentially become like college hockey players who play in the USHL before ever going to college. In this era you can expect to see players as old as 27 on a college court.
