STrib: Gophers no longer stand on sidelines for national anthem; wanted more coaching

What part is an untrue product of the left-wing agenda?

Well, I typed a response and decided to let it go. Not the place. Go Gophers!

If you weren't "forced" to show your patriotism for a few minutes a day on the weekends when would you choose to show your patriotism? Is the timing inconvenient for you?

If you want forced patriotism, maybe you should go to a country that embraces that, like North Korea.

Forced was oleboy's word, not mine. I've served my country, have you? I never said I think people should be forced to do it SJUgopher, my argument was that I don't understand why we can't come together as a large group of people on a Saturday and sing the national anthem without people bitching that it takes too much time, or it's outdated, or its whatever they think it is. I hear it everyday, and when it starts people stop their cars, stop doing what their doing outside, and put their hand over their heart. Rain or shine everyday around 5 there will be people standing outside like this, for the entire song. People here complain about one time a weekend. Gimme a damn break.

Just because someone hasn't served in the military doesn't mean they haven't "served their country". There are many ways to serve the greater good of your country, one of which is serving in the military.

Did I specify when I asked the question?

You take exception to what I said, but what he said to me was on point?

Listen, people can think what they want about the anthem at games, or showing patriotism. I have my opinion about it as well. I never said we should FORCE anyone to do anything, those were someone else's words.

I do think it's funny that I express an opinion that I think it's appropriate for the anthem to be played at games and that I think it's the respectful thing to do, and I get responses of "Go to North Korea".

Goodnight gopherhole.
