Sampson wasnt 7ft? Hard to believe we went over 10 years without a 7 footer on the roster. Had to have been a ton of 6 10/6 11 guys...

There aren’t that many true 7ft people in the world. I think I read ~3000. A huge % end up in the NBA.

so I’ll say that some of these guys aren’t really 7ft either.

I was thinking the same thing. I am 5-5 so I cannot go stand by them to check though.

True 7ft. Versus those damned false 7ft folks.

Give me a 6'5" guy with a 10' wingspan, any day!

Sampson III is 6'11" but his slouch made him seem 6'9"
I still remember how ticked I was at him when he came up with a rebound that he first let bounce off the floor. Other Gopher players had boxed their guys out and expected him to grab it--which, I guess, he eventually did.

program heights can be flexible depending on the team and the athlete.

for example, Kevin Garnett was always listed at 6'11" because he did not want to be listed as 7'.

and then there are players whose listed height is an inch or two above their real height.

I knew a HS coach who bumped almost every player up 1 or 2" so they would look better on the program.

I seem to remmeber Shasky coming to the U as a 6-10 freshman from Michigan and he grew 2 inches his freshman year. By the time he played with the Mimai Heat he was measured at 7-0.

Robbins is my wife's favorite player on the roster right now. She and I were telling the older daughter about Breuer the other day. We all actually saw him once at the Miracle of Birth Center at the fair, but our daughter doesn't remember how he and his stylish hat towered above the crowd there.
