per Joe:

Jerry Kill said tight end Duke Anyanwu had minor surgery on his right knee and should be back to practice within a couple weeks. That's the same knee Anyanwu had ACL surgery on last year, but this one sounds like a minor clean-up procedure.

Kill said the only player who might not be ready for the Sept 3 season opener against TCU is tight end Lincoln Plsek, who has yet to practice because of a back injury. Brandon Lingen and Nate Wozniak have been the two tight ends working out with the first-team offense.

Isaiah Gentry remains out with a hamstring injury. Kill said with a hamstring injury, you just don't know how long they're going to take to heal.

Go Gophers!!

That can't help the TE depth. Does anyone know how Scarver and Gibson have looked?

Have heard very good thing about Gibson.

Scarver looks good in passing drills. Limegrover said in one update about the TEs that they are playing well, but specifically mentioned Scarver still gets a little overwhelmed by how much is going on out there from time to time. Big strong kid, and runs well.
Additionally, Witham looks good in passing drills, but he needs to get bigger. He looks like someone between a WR and a TE at the moment. I am not sure he is 6'4", but he is athletic, has good hands and can run.
Beebe is a brick, I am not convinced H is his best position, but time will tell.

Not having Plsek will hurt in the running game. Reports have been good about Lingen and Wozniak so far this fall. Sounds like Gibson has done well also. We can afford injuries at TE moreso than a lot of other positions but hopefully there aren't any more.

I would amend that to say that we think we can afford injuries at TE because we have a number of options there but none of them are proven commodities at this point.

Agreed. It definitely would be nice to have Plsek healthy.

Maybe I'm dreaming, but does anyone think that one of those tight ends might have the ability to be a situational pass rusher? Seems like to waste to let talented athletes rot on the bench.

I'd say our TE depth is just fine.
