Stollings withdraws preferred walk-on offer to NRHEG's Schultz after coaching change

You have no idea what Borton's thoughts were on Schultz. I'm pretty darned confident it wasn't with the idea she'd contribute on the court. I believe most every year Borton had a walk on or two that couldn't play. Do I know the background on all of them? No, but they were there and couldn't play. Much more like managers than players. I'm guessing this was more the role Borton had in mind for Schultz. To those people, I'm confident they viewed it as a blessing. Not something to be criticized. An experience they appreciated.

It was certainly within Borton's right to carry one or two non-playing players on a roster. It is also within the new coach's right to not do that. Clearly, Stollings doesn't want to. It is no longer Borton's program, so why should anyone expect the policy to remain the same when a new coach comes on board?? And, why should it be a 'problem' if the policy is changed?

Hirt, Banham, Coughlin and Wagner are Gophers. Did Borton miss on some recruits? Yes.

Some? If by some, you mean most, then emphatically, a yes.

You tell me the way this was handled that Wagner trusts Stollings right now? Is Stollings going to communicate one thing to Wagner and change her mind too?

Why would Wagner not trust Stollings? What did Stollings change her mind about? Nothing.

And to the comment it's not important to deal with this issue 100 times better. It's about players...walk on or not. That's the most important part of your job as a coach...the players. Nothing should have taken precedence to this three or four weeks ago. As a coach, your players are watching...evaluating your decisions...deciding whether to buy in all the way or give you lip service. Not good.

We get you don't like the Stollings hire. But you're looking rather silly attacking her and using Borton as an example of communicating with your players and earning their trust. Couldn't guess how many times after a game, Borton named players she faulted for the loss and never took responsibility herself. You think any of the many transfers she had maybe didn't trust her? Watching quite a few games, I couldn't help but notice how distant Borton seemed, especially comparing her to someone like the Iowa or Purdue coach. Often a player would come out, and Pam would ignore the kid. You have no idea of how Stollings as a communicator or how she builds relationships or what Wagner thinks like the rest of us. Just an issue that lets you sputter away.

Didn't half the team quit on Borton one year?
