per the Post Dispatch:
In some ways, Kill viewed Mizzou as the blueprint college football program and Pinkel the lead architect. Kill and his loyal core of assistant coaches — seven have been with him for at least 14 years — have since moved twice, but they’re still following the same model. Kill, now in his fourth season at Minnesota, calls his process “brick by brick.”
A win today, Kill said, would count as “a huge brick.”
Like Pinkel at Missouri, Kill is building a consistent winner at a place where the glory years of the 1960s had faded into decades of obscurity. For Kill’s Golden Gophers (8-4), nothing would accelerate the program’s progress like a New Year’s Day bowl win over a team more accustomed to the big stage. Today, that team is Pinkel’s Missouri Tigers (10-3). The stage is the Citrus Bowl, Minnesota’s first January bowl game since 1962 and Missouri’s third in eight years.
