Sports Illustrated Recruiting Story

I know I'm weird, GrunkieJr, but for whatever reason that stuff interests me. But is really doesn't take much time to look at what teams have for facilities between schools websites and Google Earth, which works particully well for the number of football field. It's really easy to compare the number of football fields from school to school, because it’s pretty much apples to apples. Now looking at weight training area, academic area, locker rooms, training areas, etc. is much harder. Even though a team has 100000 sq ft locker room doesn't make it great automatically it just means it really big. If the space isn't used well or whatever it can be really crappy now if a team has a 75000 sq ft locker room it can be great if the space is used well and it has a lot of cool features. I just pulled those numbers off the top of my head. Same thing with weight lifting. A team can get by with a smaller weight room if they use the space well and stagger lifting times smartly. Another huge variable in weight lift is the type of program they have the kids on which could completely change their space needs. Also the number of training assistants makes a difference. It is much harder to tell that kind of stuff from Google Earth and most websites have pretty crappy and few picture of that stuff.

Just looking at the Google Earth area of behind Beirman. They could surely fit a few more practice fields there if they are creative. To add more fields I would start by moving the new baseball stadium about 60 yards Southwest along the railroad tracks making room for another full size field that would run at a 90 degree angle to the existing full length out field. I don't know the last time they redid the track but if that could be moved southwest also and maybe rotated a to run parall to rail road track on the south side of the area you could extend the half field to full length, I believe. Along with that you could be really creative and come up some sort of bridge over part of the football practice field connecting the track stands and Biermen. Just a thought. If they play their cards right and set everything up correctly they could add maybe another half field running as an extension of the new field where the baseball field is know. The softball field would need to be moved slightly to make room for the new track but if they be creative and come up with some sort of plaza between the new Seibert Field and the new softball stadium. The one thing that might end up losing in all of this is intermural area but that could be made up between the new outdoor football field during during non practice hours and TCF.

Wow as I was looking at that it really confusing. Here is drawing of kinda what I have in mind. It really isn't high tech because it was done on paint.

The big green area would be the new football practice fields.
The gold square would be a new track.
The smaller blue object would be a new softball field.
The large red item would be a Siebert Field.
And maybe the new big marron abnormally shaped object(no it's not the new wing of Wiesmen) would be and Bierman expansion house new lockerrooms, weight area, etc not just for football but for many other sports like track, crosscountry and other olympic sports.

Of course this not to scale but I think it would be redicouslly far off if you straighten out lines etc.
