1) Sid open the segment by saying that Maturi was recently at a women's hockey game and that he was most loyal to non-revenue sports: Maturi (laughing) "We all have different value systems. It's too bad people feel I don't care about the revenue sports." He said it's about perspective.

2) He's pleased with the outpouring of support throughout the nation that he's received since his retirement announcement. It's been a positive thing for my family . . . "It's been a good journey."

3) His decision to retire: "It's the right decision for Minnesota and my family." He's enroute to Florida to meet with donors that contribute Minnesota. He'll go to Arizona later in the week to meet with more donors.

4) Toughest part of being AD: It's the financing at the BCS levels: dollars for coaches and transportation costs for the teams and recruiting costs.

5) During the next five months he's looking forward to say his good-byes appropriately.

Joel Maturi will eventually fade into the sunset, and will use the final line of the movie A Perfect World uttered by Clint Eastwood..."I don't know a damned thing."

Does anyone know if Kaler finds his guy in the next couple of months will that new AD take over early or are we going to wait until July 1 no matter what? With our winter sports still in flux, there may be some big decisions that need to be made this Spring.

I assume readers saw the article in the Trib about how legislators are upset with Maturi's golden parachute and it will hurt the U when they come calling for funding. What they should do is subtract the Mason/Munson/Brew buyout money from Maturi's deal. Go maroon sport coat

I would say that we should be upset with our legislators over how they find ways to piss away billions, and we still have gazillions of potholes in our roads and 1000's of homeless people. Ya, legislators lead by example.

we should be pissed at our idiotic legislators the way they politically turn down easy opportunities for the state to take in millions more in tax revenue each year (could be used for things like roads, bridges, transit, K-12 and universities, stadium, social services, etc.) by no allowing things like state-run casinos, not allowing the sale of off-sale liquor and beer in stores on sundays, not allowing the sale of full-strength beer and liquor in grocery and c-stores, refusing to tax clothing and food purchases, etc.

these idiotic jerks in the legislature, who have been illegally bought off by the dirty indian tribes and equally dirty bar and liquor store lobby who is afraid of allowing sunday off-sale purchases because they think it will eventually lead to allowing full-strength alcohol sales in grocery and c-stores, are the true idiots in this state.

THEY ARE CLUELESS AND PURPOSELY IGNORE WHAT 80% of minnesotans say they want in poll after poll regarding these things. just allowing these two simple things, which are allowed in so many others states around the country, would bring in millions of additional tax revenue to the state each year that would plug a lot of budget holes and allow for investment in things for the future.
