Minnesota Commitment ‘Lined Up Perfectly’ For South Fayette’s Anthony Charles
“On my official visit, Coach [PJ] Fleck went over in detail what it meant to play for him and be a Gopher, and I felt like it lined up perfectly with my aspirations and development to the next level,” Charles told

“Me and my family were treated as first priority and I felt it during our meetings. Being a person that believes family is the most important thing you can have, I felt that connection with Coach Fleck and the rest of the coaching staff consistently throughout the entire process,” he added.
The 6-foot-5, 200-pound three-star talent selected Minnesota over upcoming official visits with Michigan, Penn State and Wisconsin, along with other offers from West Virginia, Michigan State, Minnesota, Syracuse, Cincinnati, Buffalo, Miami (OH),Toledo, Akron, Sacramento State and Youngstown State.
Charles earned an offer from Minnesota back in January when former defensive line coach Winston DeLattiboudere III visited him in person.
“The conversation Coach Debo had with my family and I really hit home for me in a big way when he came to visit me in Pa.,” Charles said. “He also was saying how the staff as a whole liked my effort, violent hands, and explosive get off.”
Even though DeLattiboudere moved onto a job in the NFL with the Arizona Cardinals, the new d-line coach, Dennis Dottin-Carter carried on the momentum with Charles.
“Coach Dott was all around consistent in coming down to visit me in Pa, speaking with my family in depth and consistently as well as our positional meetings. He’s really detailed and hands on,” Charles said.
