Even though you may disregard my claims because I am a "Fleck-ite" the smart bet HAS to be 'under' right? I mean until reality tells me otherwise, I will never bet on the Gophers to win 8 regular season games. We certainly won't be favored in 8 games this year.
Yeh, that seems right. So you're taking the under?
That seems about right to me given our schedule. 7.5
They apparently don't know we lost Leidner.
In contrast to the above I look at the schedule and I see a ton of winnable games. OSU, Nebraska, Iowa, Northwester, MSU are going to be great games. These are teams that have a lot of warts right now.

MN is 1-11 in Iowa City in the last 25 years and 4-12 in last 16 overall meetings.
I'd take the under if I had to bet on this number. I think the number shows the respect for Fleck, and his staff's ability to coach an offense and a new QB.

We beat Northwestern by 17 points last year. Home field advantage is not that great, particularly in Evanston. They lost their QBs security blanket. Historical records vs Iowa, Wisconsin mean nothing. We get Nebraska at home. Oregon State will not be a pushover but they are rebuilding.
All depends on passing game. Gophers may just have their best O coaching staff, perhaps ever. If they can get past Oregon State & MTSU and create a potent passing attack in their 5 game "pre-season" it's possible they can catch lightning in a bottle. If the passing game struggles again, then 7 wins becomes the upside definition of a good season. I would bet on the latter, whilst hoping for the former.

Looks like Las Vegas is expecting those 4-5 people that think the Gophers will win 8 games to bet a lot of money.

Oregon State and Gary Anderson are vastly overrated. Anderson's best assistants have left for promotions at BYU and Fresno State. Beavers lost top two wrs, one to NFL and one to meningitis. Lost two DBS to NFL, two olinemen to NFL, fb and lb to NFL. QB still unknown. Bunch of transfers hurting depth. Had to move dlineman to Oline to help. They won four games last year. One was Idaho State. Beat Cal and Oregon late in year, two teams where coach got fired. Beat Arizona dumpster fire late in year, AZ coach is prbly going to get fired this year.
Iowa has no rcvrs returning if vandeberg can't get healthy...the QB has little game experience...four guys drafted, four guys undrafted free agents won't be easily replaced..two lost to NFL from secondary then a projected starter in secondary tore up knee in Spring ball...Kirk shook up staff for nepotism and old boy network hires...
Fleck and Claeys knocked NW around last year; Fitz loses some good talent, Walker leaving early to NFL hurts, the projected starting de caught with coke won't help...NE has some huge roster and some coaching staff turnover to deal with as does Michigan...
This cannot possibly be true! A college team that sends that many players to the NFL has to have a better record!!
Well, it's a clear indication of the team's overall talent so the coach must suck.
