No question he was awful as a freshman. He has improved to be serviceable and probably the most improved player. I'm not saying he is the MVP by any measure, but he is in the running for second team MVP & I never thought I would say that.

Yeah he seems to get better every game. It's almost getting to the point that I expect his 3 to go in when he's wide open. I used to cringe when he'd shoot.

I hate saying this, 9194, but if people would stop with the bashing and mashing, apologies would not be needed later.

He shot 38% from the field and 40% from 3 pt range. That's probably about the best we can expect from Mav. However, tonight he certainly was better than the two Hollins' as far as shooting percentage was concerned. What tonights game shows is that Mav would be a solid player in the Patriot league.

tinyarch/jamalo, I am sorry, but you are the only guy I know who makes a compliment sound like an insult. I wish you would stop that, please.

Ol' funny-funny tired jokes Don... Some people can't ever admit when they were wrong. That's the problem.

They need to start selling jerseys with Mav's number. I'd buy one.

Yup everything should be duckies and bunnies. This inst 4th grade, they are big boys.

They are also college kids.

Mav, has done nothing but put his head down, stay out of trouble and work his tail off. He appears to me to be a great teammate. It isn't his fault that the team had multiple guards go down and he was put into the fire when he was nowhere near ready. He hasn't complained. He has just done his work. I commend him, especially as a freshman, for not getting beaten up by fans that blamed the last guy on the bench for not being an immediate star. It's not his fault he wasn't redshirted as a freshman.

His best game of the year was against Duke. Now what?

I keep telling people Mav is the Ryan Collado of the basketball team. A guy who never was recruited to play as a Freshman forced into a bad situation. A guy who impatient fans immediately write off, but if people are patient the player can become a valuable contributor in time. People wanted Collado run out of town as a Freshman, bu his Senior year people were sad he couldn't have red-shirted & been a bigger contributor in his 5th year. The same will happen with Mav.

He was recruited to be a role player as an upper jr/sr, never as a staple of an offense. It wasn't his fault Nolan got hurt and Joseph transfered. We had to use him way to early to be the point guard and floor general of our team. He was playing out of his role as an 18 year old kid. He's more comfortable and experienced now and it really shows. With a lot of negative attention some former players brought to the program, I'm thankful for Mav.

I'll say this about him, he has gotten better. Whether or not a player of his level should be recruited by Tubs is another debate, but he seems like a good person and tries hard. There are worse options out there.
