I'm not gunning for GL's job, but just watched the postgame presser and thought I'd type up some notes.

-Proud of the win against a well-coached team. Guys stepped up when they needed to, making FTs and making big plays. More than anything, we got stops when we needed to.
-Only worth one, but proud of it and we'll celebrate it tonight and move on tomorrow.

On Buggs:
-Wanted more size out there. Buggs played well until the meltdown at the end.
-I think I'll stick with it a little more. He's practicing hard, getting better. Having that mini-meltdown will be good for him because he'll grow from it. He's going to learn he can be a good player.
-It's slowly getting better, but he's come a long way. He's working hard. Now he needs to understand he can be a good player.
-We just needed size because they were shooting over us at our place.

-Kept the rough start in perspective. Stayed positive. Blocked out outside noise. Not feeling sorry for themselves. Continue to work, continue to get better, continue to grow.

On effectiveness of defense/forcing turnovers:
-My biggest thing was one of our beat writers from the Pioneer Press implied that we couldn't press on the road, so we wanted to prove him wrong. No, but really it wasn't so much the press but they were driving, we were rotating.

Nobody in that locker room had beaten Iowa at Iowa, so they need to enjoy it. Because that's a very good team. I have a lot of respect for that team and for what Fran does.

On if the next step is to not give everyone a heart attack at the end:
-We have to get to your next step? We can only take one step at a time, but yes. Joey turned it over. You can't turn that ball over. For some odd reason I trust Joey King, maybe I should stop doing that. Charles Buggs I do not trust, so that was par for the course there. But yeah, it would be nice.

On Andre:
Andre is enjoying the game out there, doesn't want it to end. Kind of like Austin at the end of last year. He's playing at a high level offensively and defensively.

On if Iowa seemed off:
-No. We won, so I've got to take credit for it. I'm not going to say they were off. I think our defense did a very good job. It's hard to beat a team twice.

On DeAndre:
-6 rebounds. Phenomenal. Told him before the game, stop worrying about jumper. Do all the little things and he did. That's a tough game for him to play in because of their size, but he showed great heart to get six rebounds.
