I am going to go out on a limb here, and maybe some want this thread moved to the Off Topic Board, however, the North Dakota State University Bison finished the season 10-1 overall, 7-1 in the Missouri Valley Conference for Co-Champs. The Bison did defeat the Gophers.

NDSU has a first round bye in the FCS Playoffs, has a #2 seed for the playoffs, and gained home field in the FargoDome until the Championship Game, site to be determined later. 19,000 capacity at the FargoDome will be damned loud.

Congratulations to the NDSU Bison for their achievement so far this year, and I am pulling for them to win it all.

I agree Dr. Don!

I'm sure the Bison faithful have been replaying their loss last week against Youngstown State, which finished as a middle of the pack conference team. Disappointing loss. That said, great season and hopefully they'll enjoy a successful playoff season. Hope they go all the way and are FCS Champions.

Go Gophers!!

I hope they get destroyed and we never hear from them again. Keep in mind, the worse they are, the better chance the Gophers have to land fringe D-1 players as preferred walk-ons.

I've been to all the home games this year. The only fans who were dicks were NDSU. I hope they lose.

That is all.

Kind of how I feel. Had a couple of friends who played there in the 1960s and 1970s and other friends who were grad assistants there in the late-1970s, but I have paid little attention since. But can't argue with their success and enjoy the fact that a number of Minnesota kids are doing well there. As long as the nutball Bison fans this board seems to attract at times don't come in here and bark like a bunch of hounds in heat, I'm fine.

My God, some of you posters here have pathetic attitudes. We have a bunch of Minnesota kids on the Bison roster, and you a$$holes bad mouth them. Shame, shame, shame on you and your $hitty attitudes.

NDSU has had a great program over the years and a lot of Minnesota kids play there - so congrats are in order. Also, it shows how tough our schedule was - USC also turning out to be a better team (9-2) than many thought, plus Michigan much stronger than expected and Wisconsin, Nebraska, Michigan State all nationally ranked, etc. All of which means we may be better than we think at this stage.

Who cares that they have MN kids on their roster? I bet 25 other DI programs have MN's, we don't need to cheer for them do we? I agree with another poster, I've been to all but 1 home game this season and NDSU fans were easily the biggest clowns out of all of them. I hope they lose every game they play. I could care less whether they win their conference or not. Delete this joke of a thread.

+1...I know some people do, but I don't give two *&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!#s about NDSU, UND, SDSU, USD, any of the UW-XX schools, etc. I don't have ill will for them, I just don't care. I'm a Golden Gopher alum and fan, that's it.

I'm a Gopher fan. Period. I could care less about Minnesota kids that choose to go to school in a different state, just like I will embrace kids from other states that choose to play for the Gophers. Why are you such a fan of a team that's embarassed us the last 2 times we've played them? And you also didn't answer my question about how NDSU's success helps our program?

If you wants to post congratulations fine, post them here.

LakesBison didn't get this much crap.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would have to agree with this. While I salute the team, the fans need to shape up. Their attitude before the game, during the game, and after the game needs to be looked at.

I just want to congratulate St. Thomas University for their stellar season. I think their squad is made up of Minn kids, also!!!

NDSU might have a bunch of MN kids on the roster, but good luck to them getting a job after they graduate!!!! :p

It's both funny and pathetic how some people react to any mention of NDSU on this board. They've had an almost-great season. They're hugely committed to being a major D1 program, and I wouldn't be surprised to see them move up to FBS in the next few years. There are a few obstacles to overcome, but the enthusiasm is there. Pretend they don't exist if you want, but...

I would be 100% surprised if they moved to the FBS level. The enthusiasm is there when they are ranked in the top 25. when they are having a .500 season, you do not see under half as much Bison fanfare in fargo. But that just goes with winning i guess.

Either way, give them congrats on there own forum if you would like. Not here. Most of their fans are annoying a-holes. They rank right up there with my disdain for Iowa and Wisky fans for me.

Youngstowns State win over the Bison was almost enough to get them into the playoffs, but then they decided to lose to a 1-9 Missouri State team at home yesterday, ending all hopes. Youngstown blew games at Northern Iowa in the last seconds, to South Dakota State in the last seconds, handed Indiana State a game on the road, and hung tough with Michigan State, think the Penguins from Youngstown State are only losing like 9 seniors, and return almost all skill position players, they should be the team to beat in the Missouri Valley next season, if not 1-AA.

Go back to some of Kill's comments before the NDSU game regarding FCS schools and FBS schools vis-a-vis APR and you probably have one reason NDSU will probably stay where they are at.

Are there any MN kids playing for Iowa or Wisconsin, if there are we should route for those teams as well.

Thanks for the congrats Dr. Don, it is appreciated.

I and many other Bison fans support the Gophers when not playing NDSU and I do realize we have some bozo fans that have soured some people on NDSU, so I won't blame anyone for not doing the same.

LMAO

I will pull for the Bison wholeheartedly to win the FBS Championship, without a doubt, for a number of reasons:

1) Any win they get is a reflection on not only themselves, but the entire upper Midwest, where many of their players come from, including Minnesota. They did beat us, remember. If they lose in the first round of the FCS playoffs, that makes us look bad. If we lost to the FCS Champion, it's not nearly as bad of a loss as it looks. Shouldn't lose to them, but losing to the champion is a lot better than losing to the flop.

2) To not cheer for them would be foolish...they are not our rivals. It's like saying you're not going to cheer for the Milwaukee Bucks in basketball. Now, God only knows why anyone would ever actually want to do that, but it sure as heck has nothing to do with any perceived rivalry with the Timberwolves. Wait...there is no NBA, is there. Oh well...strike analogy.

3) They're local. I pull for them the same way I have pulled for Minnesota-Duluth in D-II and St. John's in D-III, and will do the same for St. Thomas this year. I am a Gopher fan through-and-through, but it's always great to see the local teams win. Again, we are not competing with them.

4) If Jerry Kill can get things rolling, we will get those preferred walk-ons that were mentioned as going to NDSU over Minnesota. If we start winning, we won't be competing with them for players. And frankly, if a player is caught in the quandary of playing at NDSU or Minnesota, it's either that they don't want to play in the big city, or we're not winning. One we can't fix, and the other is our own house's fault. Again, not a reason to not cheer for them in the post-season.

5) I pull for Big Ten teams in bowls and the NCAA basketball tournament (with exceptions tending to be Iowa and Wisconsin), so why wouldn't I pull for other opponents? Again, it's a provincial thing.

6) My dad played football for the Bison. It's a family matter too...

I'm sure I'll be ripped for something here, but it's where I stand. Go Bison!

The debate over this is ridiculous. People really care enough about a 1-AA team to get annoyed? They are playing for the JV championship. Not worth whining about. Congrats all the way.

What you stated here is exactly why I started this thread. Too many bitch comments about the Bison, and only because we have a bunch of spoiled brats, of whom I am sure that many of the parents of these brats are glad the brats are gone from home.
