So, we going to NIT?

Supposedly the players initially voted not to play in it after Weber was fired, then changed their mind. But that could have impacted things.

I think so - the team is borderline, does not have a head coach and has players that voted not to attend - has to hurt their chances.

Looking forward to them adding "2012" to the NIT banner hanging at the Barn at next season's opener....

there's no reason we can't run the table. what better way to learn how to finish games than in tournament play? this could be a good finish in to next year.

True we could run the table, just as others could as well. But the extra games are valuable. Even with a bad record, this team is still improving.

Looks like Illinois is not in the NIT. Did the firing of Weber impact the selection?

Illinois this year is A LOT like Minnesota last year. Great start, fell apart down the stretch. I think they didn't get an invite for the same reason that we didn't last year: there's no point in giving an invitation to a team that is struggling so much at the end of the season. If I were the NIT, I wouldn't waste a bid on a team that played so poorly down the stretch.

So a team that has lost 8 out of their last 11 and may have lost 10 out of 11 if the last 11 games didn't inlcude Nebraska twice isn't playing poorly down the stretch?

When all of those losses except one come from teams ranked in the top 25? Many of which we had legitimate chances to win?

I never said we played well toward the end of this season. But we played better than we did in 2011, and better than Illinois did this year.

Yeah, it wasn't fun, but this team played better than last year's team down the stretch IMO. Just a harder schedule. Plus, they showed up at the BTT and looked like a better team than they had most of the year, meaning growth was shown there.
