Snow Day Game

You can identify an active storm track long range, which is exactly what is happening beginning today. You cannot forecast the placement of heavy snow more than a few days in advance, and sometimes not even until within 24 hrs.
Yeah I get all of that. I'm sure he's doing it for clicks but I was trying to suggest that there's been signals for awhile now for something significant somewhere in the area this weekend. AccuWeather daily forecast saying it will be nice that far out doesn't mean that is a for sure thing either.

There have been flurries in a couple other games (2018 Purdue comes to mind) but the 2014 Ohio State game was the only big snow game with the other game you mentioned, 2019 Wisconsin, having its moments of snow and a little accumulation.
2016 NW?

I don't have a problem with him mentioning it. We're probably going to miss having snow during the game by 6-9 hrs.

No snow, but it will be cold. I remember an Illinois game maybe a decade ago that I was at and it was cold. Seems like it might be a day kinda like that. 2:30 kickoff means the entire second half pretty much will be played in the dark with decreasing temperatures.

The always accurate Accuweather says 28 with possible snowflakes.

That was the game that the Gophers clinched when Brooks ran about 60 yards to score in the last 2 or 3 minutes. It was 17 degrees at kickoff but without a lot of wind it did not feel that cold to me.

Love the bank it’s my favorite all-time sports venue, but for some reason it seems like the most variance between shade and sun happens there. A buddy and I finally smartened up and got out of the shade and into the sun and then it was a lot better.

Here's the latest:

May only be flurries at most but good chance some accumulating on the field by the end of the game. In the meantime the stadium is going to be a little treacherous. We're going to bring a baggie of non-salt ice melt for our spot in case there's substantial ice. Going to be a game for the hardiest Gopher fans. Billds will be there.

Models should be pretty much set by today.

GWG...what's the verdict to prepare for gameday attire and tailgating?

I was off by a day all week, for some reason I thought this game was today. Throw all of my old forecasts out!

There will be light snow throughout the day tomorrow. It'll be a long slow accumulation of 3-6" across the metro.

Thanks GWG. Also glad you got an extra day back to wonder whether the Home Gophers will prevail to 7-0 in familiar confines?

Looking for The Axe staying in Minneapolis for chopping someone firewood after the game to cement a solid W...or so we hope. Ski-U-Snow Game!

On the subject of Gopher games played in the snow, in 1955 USC came to Memorial Stadium and ran into a late October blizzard. They had a flashy back named Jon Arnett (apologies to older members who know all about him). He did next to nothing that day and a poor Minnesota team scored an upset. YouTube has a 2 minute, 18 second video on team highlights from 1955 and at the 2:00 mark it shows a Gopher quarterback (Don Swanson) running 65 yards for a touchdown through swirling snow. Might be worth a look. Also on the tape, Pinky McNamara (younger brother of Bob) scores a touchdown.
