Smotrycz, Christian and Brundidge Decide to Leave Mich - UPDATED (4/9): Burke staying

Yikes. Bad news.

Gonna be one heck of a spring/summer...fall? in the college basketball world.

Will always remember Smotrycz for his game-tying 3 vs. the Gophers in Indy this year. Hadn't done squat the entire game, and then he drains the 3 to send it to overtime.

Smotrycz leaving hurts Michigan some, but they'll be fine as long as Burke, Hardaway and Morgan return, and the Horford kid should be back from injury.

And now one Mr. Burke is looking at turning pro.

What was your favorite Michigan Revitalization moment?

Some GopherHolers will blame Tubby Smith.

Also, in other transfer news, Alex Oriakhi is leaving UConn.

Calhoun's a great coach, but he's too darn stubborn to do the right thing, step down before things get even uglier at UConn.

I kinda liked the part where they won a share of a regular season big ten title.

Are you serious with that question?
Seriously you can't make it up. I feel like people are using this to support tubby. You realize JB has won a conference title and won a touney game at Michigan?

I'm not even a fire tubby guy but save your BS.

Everyone said Michigan was "back"

After one-two years, they may revert back to where they were before. That is the point.

Michigan just won their first big ten title since the 80s. They're as back as they have been legally in 25 years.

I guess if Minnesota basketball wins one big ten title and then falls back to being a bubble team it wouldn't mean they are back.
I guess if Minnesota football won a coferwnxe title and then fell back to 7-5 seasons it wouldn't mean minnnesota football is back.

Trey Burke Flirting with NBA

Would love to see him declare. :D

Trey Burke is considering leaving Michigan for the NBA draft.

“I think that, for the most part, when you have a season as a freshman like he did, the NBA, they like them young. They think their ceiling is higher when they’re young,” Trey’s father, Benji, said Tuesday. “Trey had some good games and a solid season for a freshman. It’s going to be one of the weaker point guard drafts in years.

"The second thing is he was considered high. He does have some juice right now. It didn’t end well, but he ended up having some great games. He’s got to be one of the top five freshman guards in the country. He got a hold of some information, and you at least need to inquire.

“I can’t say he’s coming back, can’t saying he’s leaving. If it had my way, he’d be coming back.”

April 29 is the deadline to declare for the draft.

From the article I just read, Trey Burke's dad is quoted as saying that they are going to go the NBA exploratory route but that his preference along with his wife's is for Burke to return.

Michigan's bringing in 6'10" Mitch McGary (#21 Scout), 6'7" Glenn Robinson II (#28) and SF Nick Staukas (#84) next season.

I think they'll be just fine.

Trey Burke Might Leave.....

For the draft. I would actually hate to see this. The kid is good. I want to see him and Dre' go at it for 3 more years.

Go Trey Go! He is player that beat the Gophers twice this year!

they have already re-loaded. They have a couple of great recruits coming in.

Still a tough loss. With Burke they were almost certainly a top-10 team heading into next year. Without him, they're probably a top-20 team.

CBS link says they're bring in an "under-the-radar point guard" for a visit. Sounds like something Tubby might have done and hopefully it'll work out as well for them.

they are going with the "Maverick" like recruit? or.......... Trent Locket!!! let the uproar ensue

has a chance to be taken in the first round.

That seems like a good reason to leave after just one year. If you're not a potential lottery pick after your freshman year, I think it's stupid to leave. He'll either end up not playing much as a back up or play most of the season in the NBDL. Would make much more sense to return for a second year.
