Since Brewster is long gone, I have a question.........................

A ton of other people.....? Really?

You cats are too much. I said what I meant to say...stop trying to read something else into it.

I'm tempted to smoke a fat joint, drink some Hennesy while listening to Jimmy Hindrix to see if I can figure out how the hell you arrived here:

"Lets just assume that our current staff is a bunch of hill billies, are you insinuating that hill billies don't make up large portion of the college coaching fraternity?"

I will just assume you had a senior moment.:cool02:

Really? You can't see how I arrived at the conclusion? In response to why Kill's staff has stayed together so long you said it's because they don't have any better options and your reasoning was "Maybe I'm biased against hill billies but I can't imagine any of them going anywhere soon (these guys don't pass the eyeball or conversation test)".

What other possible conclusion could someone have possibly arrived at other than you are saying "They don't have options because they are hill billies"? Really what else could there possibly be?

I was just pointing out the absurdity in your post that being a hill billie would be something that could possibly cost someone a college football coaching job. It's absolutely full of guys that come across as hill billies.

Or simply just proving what a moron you are.

Bob Barker said come on down when he asked for the next contestant on the Price Is Right. Would it kill you to be nice to me? Could you rejoin the human race? Can we be on the same team? We both are gopher fans after all; you don’t have to kill me with your cruel words; it’s not like I said he needed to think about the repercussions of it.

How is that for moronic?

If people are talking about you, that means your important. ;) you have often unique opinions that most on here can respect and disagree with at the same time. Some folks can't separate these two things.

In this case, loblaw did not look into anything, you pretty much said it (which is fine, as u say just "own it"). I like reading your posts and appreciate your views.

Compliment sandwich. I learned that during studies for my B.S in Psychology.

The trick to posting on internet message boards is to not read the rest of the thread after you post. That is the way I usually do it and I ALWAYS assume everyone agrees with my posts and they think I am a veritable font of knowledge and wisdom.

I like that!

Anybody know the real, honest to God reasons why so many of Timmy's coaching staff quit so early and rapidly? Man, there was so many of his staff that vamoosed into the sunset! Any answers? Thanks in advance. Go Gophers!!

Smoking Joe Salem part II

Shanahan, Martz,.....

Gotta pay to keep the top guys.

1st off it all begins with coaches having OPTIONS. Maybe I'm biased against hill billies but I can't imagine any of them going anywhere soon (these guys don't pass the eyeball or conversation test). If Jerry is able to duplicate his past successes in producing winners I would say this would be the tipping point for anyone associated with him. Jerry would be the toast of college football and his staff would be given the once over by any AD looking for some of that magic.

I think some of Brews staff left because they got better options. Some left because he asked them too. Some left because they realized they were on a sinking ship....basicly I think you summed it up nicely. Turnover is the norm not the exception.
Look Weiner last year some of his staff received offers to leave. They stayed so unless you know something I can't take you seriously.

Do we know where these offers we're from and if they were better offers or jobs than what they have here?

Unless kill and maturi/teague are lying to us they have said some offers came after last season. IMO, there is no reason to lie.

I never said they lied, just want to know the quality of offers they had? Are they turning down coordinator jobs at helmet schools for more money or turning down HC jobs at schools like St. Olaf for less money?

Your point is very valid. The loyalty this staff has shown to Kill is very impressive and rare in college athletics. But they have never been on a big stage like this. Should the team start winning these coaches will have opportunities presented that they have not had to this point. That is when we will find out just how loyal they really are to Kill. If a guy turns down a promotion or more money somewhere else to stay put that is true loyalty.

Clearly I don't know all the stuff that happens behind the scenes...I am sure all of these guys have gotten other offers in the past but I find it hard to believe they have gotten many lucrative or high profile offers. Prior to coming to MN most of these assistants were complete unknowns in the world of college football given the places they had coached before and the fact that they haven't moved around.

Right now the main one to watch is Claeys. If the defense preforms well next year he will attract some interest as a DC or HC somewhere. If that time comes it will be interesting to see if he entertains those offers or shoots them down in order to stay with Kill. Of course if the defense struggles next season his stock will plummet again and it will be a non issue.

Great point.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to come to the conclusion that coaches who work for a under paid coach at a school nit exactly know for flotball who has fired it's coaches going back 30 years do not have a plethora of "quality" offers to coach elsewhere.

For me this is not a knock against them, it's just acknowledgement that they haven't reached the level of being sought by other schools....yet.

I agree.

Kill getting the Minnesota job was a HUGE get for him; it's not unreasonable to question the level of offers those working for him would be offered.
