Great idea for a thread.

Wherever did you come up with this idea?

Kendall Gant must have been an academic non-qualifier. The Gophers were recruiting him a while back.

Malik Mcdowell To MSU against mom's wishes.

At least that is the scuttlebutt on tOSU insiders website, so sorry, no link, so call it speculation.

Not a big name, but there must be something very interesting in this story: Link

From the link (my comments in parentheses):
Greg McDowell told 247Sports.com of his son's recruitment and Michigan State: "You have to be somewhere you have less distractions and be around people that do what you do, go to class(!), be football players, be a student(!)-athlete. That's the environment I want him to be around, and not be in close proximity to his friends (bad influences, perhaps). I want him out of Michigan (okay, fair enough). I don't care if that's Ohio State or Florida State(!!!!)."

Sorry, but when I think about good influences, going to class, and the student aspect of student-athlete, those two universities are not the first to come to mind.

Composite #21 Overall 2015 5* Maea Teuhema (OL) & Brother Decommit from Texas

#7 Dual threat QB Treon Harris flips from Florida State to Florida.

Craig Evans #1 rated recruit in beckyville flips from becky to MSU on signing day. So much for there locked boarders.

That is a big switch. This should get more attention - Wisco's gotta be hurting on that one. He's from Sun Prairie too, which is just a few miles from Madison. He's gonna have a tough time showing his face around town after this.

Wisconsin fans are already claiming it was due to academic reasons (even though Evans stated it wasn't). It's their way of "cooling" on recruits.

and there way of cooling on Elmore is it's a TE and they can get those anywhere.

I loved it when Wisconsin fans claimed they cooled on Elmore only to have Elmore tweet his official offer letter from Wisconsin. That was hilarious.

Appears Minnesota gets them from everywhere. Kansas, Texas, Alabama, Wisconsin, Minnesota....love it.

All of these decommits are just annoying. What good is a commitment if you're just going to flip flop on Signing Day? Just stay uncommitted if you don't know what you're doing.

I love how McDowell signed with MSU in spite of what his parents wanted. Of course the parents should have input, but ultimately it's the player's decision and he's the one who has to put in the work and live with the consequences.

The Craig Evans flip happened two days ago.

Correct, and despite what Evans is saying it certainly sounds like it was 100% about academics. Sounds like he wanted to be a Badger.

His parents wanted him to go out of state to be away from distractions and bad influences. It's important to remember that, instead of the knee jerk reaction, that a recruit is automatically lost every time an instate Helmet School offers one of our recruits. We still might lose the prospect but it's not automatic.

He gave MSU a verbal commitment, but to this point, he has not signed yet.
