Heard Sid at 6:40 and 7:40 this morning on WCCO...

- Sid said at 6:40 Smart has said he doesn't want the (Gopher) job
- at both 6:40 and 7:40 Sid suggested other coaches won't want to come here because they respect Tubby so much, and nobody can understand how you can fire a coach that has won 20 games every year.
- Sid brought up Flip both sessions and said Flip hasn't been returning his calls. More or less, Sid offered Flip as his best guess to get the job

This is most of what I could understand considering all the slurring.

It's discussed in another thread, but the guy is barely lucid at this point and I don't see why they can't gracefully let him fade into retirement. That or put him in a room with an unplugged mic every week and let him dodder to himself.

Heard the 7:40 edition. You pretty much summed it up.

Sid doesn't like it when he's not plugged in.

Still can't believe what a jerk he was to Teague yesterday. Totally bush.

Flip is live on Sportscenter right now. No wonder why he isnt answering sid's calls. haha

Thanks for the update Schnauzer. Sid is bitter that Tubby was fired, but his comment about some coaches not wanting to come here after the way it was handled may have some merit to it, not that Sid is getting this info first hand.

Go Gophers!!

Pretty safe to assume Sid hasn't got any clue what's going on with the coaching search.

When that happens, just throw angst against the wall and see if it sticks.

Sid actually said he didn't know what was going on.

Sid's Hearing Ear dog helps him hear a lot better though.

Bottom line is this...Sid is no longer plugged in like he used to be. Sad as it is, most of his "close personal friends" have either died or retired. He doesn't have many inside sources anymore. The only "scoops" he gets are through his constant badgering and bullying. He has no idea whether Shaka has wants or doesn't want this job. No idea.

Let us not forget Sid was the guy who emphatically proclaimed on his Sunday night TV sports show with Max and Reusse that the Gophers had no plans to fire to Tubby. "I'm more plugged in than anyone over there and they're aren't going to fire him." 14 hours later Tubby was gone.

Ha, if true, that is hilarious.

Sid also said no way the Vikes would trade Percy Harvin. Next day, guess what.

Like Woody would give Sid any type of scoop/update whatever after the way he chumped Woody at the presser.

By Sid's logic, UCLA won't be able to get a new coach. I wonder how Kentucky got a new coach.

The part in bold is just complete and total BS. Coaches get that this is a business and any coach that pays attention to basketball at all can see where this season was a major disappointment. Not to mention the fact that anyone in the profession knows that new AD's tend to not like inherited coaches and will replace them if they have a good enough reason to.

The whole 20 wins a year thing is nice but in a lot of ways it is kind of like winning 6 games and qualifying for a bowl game in football, if you the majority of your wins are against inferior non-conf opponents the accomplishment is not nearly as impressive.

Getting tired of the 20 win thing. They way scheduling is done now days and the number of games, it is meaningless.......Same with comparing NCAA tournament appearances to the past.

Kudo's to Sid for not cowering to Teague and being man enough to call the spade a spade

Sid says that every time someone gets fired here. Someone always takes the job. I really hate Sid Hartman. He does more to hurt U Athletics with all his cronyism than all the detractors combined.

The only thing he is plugged into these days is his Oxygen tank. Jerk is not an adequate term for his behavior.
