You do realize non-profit means that they are not subject to income taxes don't you? It also doesn't mean that they can't have a surplus or a profit. You might want to look up what a 501 c 3 corporation is and understand the laws that govern them.

There are plenty of avenues towards "personal gain". As someone previously said, this is just as likely about ego as anything else. Either way, I'm not limiting his choices strictly to those that directly line his pockets. What does seem rather clear, however, is that he has been willing in the past to donate money to the university so long as they do x, y, and z for him. When they don't, he takes his big money ball and goes home. He's more than welcome to do that, since it's his money, but the public is also more than willing to call him out on it.

It is common practice for people who give money to request that it be used in a certain way or that certain conditions are adhered to in the use of that money. The things that you are suggesting are most likely illegal and would also have tax consequences to them. Unless you can be more specific about your allegations, all they are are allegations without substance.

If by "hearsay" you mean that it wouldn't hold up in a court of law, yeah, I don't have written or recorded testimony of Sanford specifically demanding anything. I never claimed to.

I guess that means it's a coincidence that he has decided to rescind his financial support of the U in the face of it not pushing through a merger that he was intimately involved with (I'm sure you'll dispute this too, but give me a break....) ? Is that what we're going with here?

Also, yes, I'm aware of what a "non-profit" hospital is. I also think the term is largely a joke, but that's not really germane to the discussion except that others have brought it up.

You said oligarchs are controlling my life. They are not. I detailed who is. And that isn't political in the sense you are thinking, because both elephants and donkeys are controlling my life together, and have been for a long time.
If I want nothing to do with t Denny and his businesses, I have that power. Therefore, he does not control me.
But you keep teaching our kids that we only need to send more of our power to Washington, to get rid of those evil oligarchs. That will solve the problem I'm sure.

Apparently you are under the delusion that we can continue to have an all powerful government, but that politicians won't abuse that power and use it to enrich themselves. And you called me naive.

Where on God's green earth did I ever say anything to even remotely imply that? When did I advocate an "all powerful government"? Again, you are assuming a ton of things here based on some obvious pre-conceived biases or something. Was a professor mean to you? I honestly don't get it.

Sanford Premier Health just wouldn't have looked good and might have even been a breach of contract if it had been plastered all over the U of M Hospitals...so VERY close to TCF BANK STADIUM on the East BANK of SKI-U-MAH City, Minnesota! TCF does have EXCLUSIVE rights deals with the University of Minnesota. Just Go over to the U of M Walter Mondale Law School Building or any legal library and do some research about Contract Law. It would appear it was all over way back when the U of M rejected T. Denney's "take it or leave it too many strings attached...offer to spend $35 million and not a penny more to build a little shack of a stadium that he could name after himself...

An out of control compulsive and obsessive poster who calls him/herself killjoy has been stalking virtually every post I make, in case you haven't noticed it. What I really want to know is if this type of stalking is an acceptable option for posters to utilize on this site? This particular has utilized David Allen Coe references in the past.

I'll most likely continue to ignore him and his type (leeks...et. al). Still, I think this is something that you all might want to take an interest in. It seems as though several of these types of posters are attempting to revert to tactics from several years ago. You moderators from GOPHERHOLE really might want to keep your eye on things a little more closely.

It's up to you, of course. If you want to allow a few people to push the limits, it's your call.

I'll try to ignore this DAC threat that killjoy referred to in one of his stalking posts to me the other day.

The way I look at it: he is pretty much making an obnoxious fool of himself...and I do trust that at least a few people notice his obsessive and compulsive attachments to my posts. Any feed back you could give me would be much appreciated Moderators.

Then you claim to be for freedom of speech but as Short Ornery Norwegian has pointed out you only interested in having your agenda discussed. By the way DAC is now posting and enjoying the The Daily Gopher where he is allowed to have a normal conversation. I will say one thing about you wren, you are at least smart enough not to post on The Daily Gopher. They didn't and won't put up with your B.S.

Interesting theory but I don't believe it is correct for many reasons. The first is that the loon used to post here (or was it on the Strib?) with bud. Sometimes they would join wren in his anti Brewster posts. That is the only similarity between loon and wren. Loon is a Canadian and a former teacher while wren is from Winona and only god knows what he did. Loon's posts are a far cry from what wren posts here sometimes. Therefore I am quite surprised about your statement. To me loon posts bare little resemblance to loons.

P.S. After posting that they wouldn't put up with wren's non-sense on The Daily Gopher I remembered when wren tried to post at Matt H's. or Vee's old FBT site. Matt told him that he knew all about him from the GopherHole and then proceeded to destroy wren. Wren never did try to post there again.
